And now we introduce the guilty party and his...unusual friends. The scenes inside the car with these characters were so fun to write because of their quirkiness. While the silence and emptiness of the majority of the story has an element of freedom to it, these characters definitely bring something different to the story.
So, by this point, one of the characters has stumbled upon a peculiar object, which I’m sure you readers figure it has something to do with the whole situation....but what? Meanwhile, our main couple is enjoying the....well.....eerie quiet by having some coffee.
I went ahead and added the next few chapters for readers. The truth is, I’ve already finished writing the book. Several drafts, in fact, and had it professionally edited.
However, I’m still trying to figure out how InkShares does things. Am I only supposed to upload so much of the book and gain some followers, or can I go ahead and upload it all, get some feedback, and then setup pre-orders?
It’s science fiction, but it’s not hard science fiction. The "system" that’s in effect is more of an "on-hold" scenario. Yes, the earth has stopped spinning, but it’s more of a suspension of functions. Like daily life. This "pause" would have to linger for things to start building up to all the natural disasters that would actually happen.
A lot of this is explained later, and readers will find out its more magical in nature, thus the fantasy side of the story.
How do you account for the 1,000 mph wind that would keep moving in the event the Earth stopped, scouring the surface of everything but the bedrock? I gather it’s a fiction, but it’s tough to suspend disbelief that we would survive something absolutely cataclysmic.
This story has a quiet beginning, and each of the characters seem to be isolated from everything else whenever their parts of the story unfold, but they all eventually meet up in the end. Yet, their meeting is still one single point that is significant in all the rest of the quiet world. For the world stands still, all is quiet, and the secret intrigue and thoughts that are inspired by the discovery of the earth’s predicament are full of fear, confusion, misunderstanding, ignorance, but most of all, heightened imagination at what possibilities might be.
Then, the truth, and the need for things to be the way they were once more.
Aliens are involved, but they are merely a secondary influence. The source of the world stop has been here all along, and human curiosity is to blame.
