Woah, we’re entering the second week of October. Where does the time go?

               

Not much news to report this week. We’re entering the final stretch of the CryptTV contest and we’re still sitting nicely at #1. It’s been incredibly flattering to see the support surrounding this twisted book. Truly. I haven’t really been able to fully process it because I’m in campaign mode every day but it really means the world.

Because October is my favorite month of the year, and this weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving - I’m feeling generous. So we’re going to do a contest! 

Every new pre-order placed will be entered to win a copy of The Twilight Zone complete series on DVD. The anthology series completely redefined horror and science fiction. I reckon many of us wouldn’t even be on this site without it. Don’t believe me? Here’s the set sitting on my desk beside me:

This is my favourite time of the year. I hope y’all are watching a horror movie a day. It’s important to get your daily dose of horror.

A quick update again this week. First, we’re still killing it in the CryptTV contest. I can’t thank you all enough for supporting this strange book that is so close to my twisted black heart. It means the world.

Second, I took a lot of your feedback and I rewrote the first chapter and added a new second chapter titled: THE MESSENGER. Read it now, creeps! I know you’ll love it.

Third, I’m still working on some press and other opportunities to spread the word but I need everyone’s help in making this contest huge. I don’t want to slow down just because we’re in first. I’d really like to get to 250 pre-orders and make Quill. Help me get the word out! If everyone could recommend Weaponized to just one friend that would do so much to help out our chances!

Finally, if you are spending the month watching horror movies, allow me to recommend a few. Especially some that inspired this crazy book.

Videodrome - it explores the relationship we have to the media we consume. It is perhaps more relevant now than ever.

The Thing - John Carpenter’s masterpiece of practical effects. It shows us the scariest monsters can still be human. 

The Fly - Cronenberg’s tragic love story of a man who wants nothing more than to be a legend. A must see.

Day of the Dead - My favorite of the George A Romero zombie flicks. It offers a slow deconstruction of the human psyche and what the future may hold in a world filled with zombies.

Hellraiser - Clive Barker’s classic. A tightrope walk between pleasure and pain, material and immaterial. It’s influence can be felt on every page of Weaponized.

Hello everyone!

We’re locked and loaded at #1.

Short update for this week. Things have been crazy with Weaponized. The positive reaction you’ve all shared with me has been overwhelming. It’s been truly gratifying.

This week, we had the book appear on Bloody-Disgusting. I’ve also been streaming with my brother on Twitch to gather orders. Should be streaming again tomorrow, you can find us here. I’m sure we’ll be playing retro games. 

In the meantime, I have a few more offers for press for Weaponized. I write for The Huffington Post during the weekdays (find my stuff here). I only mention it because next week I’ll be writing about Banned Books Week. The freedom to read is incredibly important so if y’all have a banned book you love don’t hesitate to reach out, I’d be happy to write about it.

Finally, I still need everyone’s help in spreading the good word of Weaponized. If any of you have a friend who’d be interested in the book, please refer them to this page. We’re a month and a week away from the end of the CryptTV contest and I’ll need all the support I can muster to stay in the top 3. Also, we’re 87 orders away from Quill!! So let’s push for that!

Finally, I’ve uploaded Chapter 4 - The Rhythm. It dives deeper into Trip’s mutation and takes a longer look at what it means to have a gun STI.

Finally if you get a chance this weekend: See Blair Witch. I’m not one to scare easily, but holy hell I was dying in the theatre. It’s truly something else. Isolating, terrifying, and beautifully original. 

More press for Weaponized is coming over the next week.

Short update today. 

First of all, I’m blown away by the support so far. It’s insane. Really, the amount of you who’ve gotten behind this insane project shows me I’m on the right track. I couldn’t be more grateful.

Second! Weaponized now has a trailer. Head here or to the project page to check it out. 

Third! We hit 75 unique readers! So as promised I’ve uploaded what I consider to be the most controversial chapter of the novel, here. Please proceed with caution however as it does contain graphic content and is certainly not for the faint of heart. Also, it does contain spoilers! As it happens quite late in the book.

Again, thank you all for your continued support on this project. This project is so close to my heart that it really means the world to me to see all of you so passionate about it.

I must say...your gory images freak me out and yet I’m loving them at the same time lol also, I’m an avid comic book reader and The Dregs sounds right up my alley! I’ll be looking for it next year :)

On another note. We’re quickly climbing toward 75 pre-orders. Once we hit that number I’ll be releasing what I consider to be the most controversial chapter of the novel. It’s something I’ve been hesitant to share but given the overwhelming support - I figure it’s time to dive into this insanity head first. 

For those of you still on the fence, I’m working with some comic artists to get some crazy good incentives for those of you who have pre-ordered. Stay tuned for that.

It seems a lot of you are really into the premise of Weaponized and find it to be a unique take on the genre. I’m so pleased to hear that! I sat with this project for a year almost certain no one would enjoy it. So it’s incredible to receive the feedback.

I wanted to take a moment to ask that you help me spread the word about this little book. Every pre-order puts us closer to the goal and brings this closer to reality. For those of you still on the fence, well, I have good news.

1. I’ve uploaded chapter 3. That’s where the story really starts to take off.

Hey everyone!

I wanted to thank all of you for your support of Weaponized. So far the support I’ve received has been overwhelming and amazing. This is a weird book, so really I can’t thank you enough.

I’ve uploaded chapter 2 to celebrate. You’ll find it in its entirety on the page. For those of you in doubt, the entire book is completed but I’m going to roll things out slowly.
