Hello mis amigos!

This is my weekly request for the favor of your pre-order, to keep me on track for Quill. Every single order helps! Please take a moment and help me achieve my mini-goal of reaching 80 pre-orders. I need less than 10 for that to happen. (BTW, I do pre-order swaps.)

Mission 51 is coming along nicely! I am working on the chapter where Deltare gets her first glimpse of the alien. Among the closing lines of the previous chapter:

“And now," Smith announced, “let’s go see the dead alien. That will be a good prep for the live one you’ll be meeting tomorrow.”

Officer Smith said that as if it was a normal thing to say. But it wasn’t normal, Henry/Deltare thought...

Well, I guess Deltare is entitled to her opinion, but things will change!

Stay tuned!

Peace!

Ferd.  :-)

(ahem... your pre-order? Please and thank you!)

Hello everyone! Hope your week is going smoothly, and that you’re reading and writing away!

I’m working on yet another pivotal chapter, this one called "Roswell Revisited." I have it mostly outlined now, so I just need to fill in the blanks. Some of the coolness includes Dr. Linda Deltare’s first look at the dead alien and his spaceship in Roswell, AND... her very first glimpse of her assignment, Mat!

Peace, y’all!

Just in time! I just finished a decent draft of "Transformation," right before midnight, still technically the weekend as promised!

It was difficult material to write, but it adds an unusual twist, and it will work nicely into my diversity message as well as into the sub-theme of change.

And now, finally, on to aliens! :-)

First, a very warm welcome to all new Mission 51 followers! So glad you’re onboard! :-)

I have 5 quick items:

1. A heartfelt thank you to those who have supported me and Mission 51 with your kind words and pre-orders. I am truly touched by your friendship and kindness!

2. Mission 51 now has a "STAFF PICK" star on the home page! I’m thrilled! Thank you, Inkshares!

3. Mission 51 now has over 100 followers! What a super milestone! I am so glad to see the family growing!

4. Feeling very grateful, I have decided to add an "Appreciation" section to the book. It will include the name of every person who has supported Mission 51 with a pre-order. I will add all current supporters to the list this weekend, but I have already started it and uploaded it to the project.

5. Finally, this is my weekly ask. To all those who have yet to pre-order, PLEASE help me reach my next mini-goal. I need 11 pre-orders by the end of the weekend to reach 80. That will keep me and Mission 51 on track. Please, and thank you very much!

"Abduction," "Dream Job," and "Transformation" are a trilogy of chapters developing one of Mission 51’s principal characters. In these chapters, Dr. William Henry goes from being nabbed off the street in Chicago, to a meeting with the president at the White House, to Roswell, NM to learn about top-level national secrets. During this time, he changes. Dr. Henry doesn’t just come out of the closet, he is thrown out! And he likes it!

"Transformation" will be complete by sometime this weekend and I will update y’all with it. Keep an eye on your email for this top-secret chapter!

Peace!

Here’s a little window into the writer’s room in my mind...

When I envision a scene, I think of my novel as a comic book. I want to tell my story in key scenes, with a dramatic image in mind, with succinct text that you could fit into a thought or word balloon. I picture landscape views to set the scene, middle-distance views to tell the story, close-ups of emotional faces, and frames depicting action. I try to use real-life conversational language that is true to the character.

So there you go. Some  of the gears in my brain-box.

Peace!

Making good use of my few days off, I’m on a freakin’ roll!

I uploaded "Abduction" yesterday and promised to follow that chapter with one called "Roswell Revisited." But I realized I needed a bridge chapter, so I started AND finished it today! It is a short chapter, but it serves the purpose. It is called "Dream Job" and I will upload it in a minute.

In "Dream Job" we see the further development of a key character, Dr. William Henry, before his transformation. We also see the completion of the short story-arc of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Take a bow, Ike! ***cheers***applause***

Now to start work on "Roswell Revisited!"

Peace!

I am uploading a first draft of the chapter called, "Abduction."

I will follow that chapter with one called, "Roswell Revisited." These two chapters go hand in hand, so I will get to work on finishing that next.

So here you go, "Abduction." I hope it hits the spot!

Here’s a teaser for the upcoming chapter, "Abduction." I’ll post the rest of it tomorrow. :-)

His reflection overlapped the stylish dress on the mannequin on the other side of the storefront window. “Beautiful,” he thought, and then gazed over to the other items on the elegant display. Window shopping on Michigan Avenue, Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, was always a special treat for Bill Henry. No one knew him here. He could let down his guard a little bit. He was free to shop, and dream. He walked into the store and on impulse bought the dress. “A graduation present,” he flushed to the clerk.

“Doctor” Henry. He still couldn’t believe the years of research and study were over- years of class work, field work, papers, presentations, dissertations, and being on someone else’s schedule. At thirty years old, it was hard to believe that his life was now his own.

Henry walked out of the store, bag in hand. He leisurely strolled down Michigan Avenue, appreciating the window displays, and the variety of people hurrying along on the busy street. It all seemed so alive, so real, such a far cry from the stodgy world of higher education in Boston.

He decided to head back to his room at The Drake. He was looking forward to dressing up, and then ordering room service for a nice dinner in the privacy of his own room. He had never dared to dress up in public.

Daydreaming, he did not see them coming. He didn’t notice the black Ford Crown Victoria that slowly cruised past him and stopped at the curb a short distance ahead...

Sorry about the glitch on my last update. Hopefully you will all receive this one.

This is my occasional request, directed to the Mission 51 followers who have yet to purchase a pre-order.

Please help me get to 65 before the end of the weekend. That’s only 5 pre-orders. It doesn’t sound like much, but it would really help me stay on track. If you can find it in your heart and in your pocketbook, I would be forever grateful! Help Mission 51 get off the ground!

Oh, and BTW, I return pre-orders if you just ask.
