Dear Readers,

THE BIG NEWS: I am participating in a live Google+ Hangout on Saturday, March 26, at 3pm Eastern time (1pm Mountain time). I am excited to be joining Elayna Mae Darcy for a live version of her "Women Slaying Sci-Fi" blog series, along with Inkshares authors AC Weston and Amanda Orneck.

If you’re interested in joining us, follow the event on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/events/611136085710105/

Join us to ask questions about sci-fi, our creative processes, our favorite colors...you get the idea. :)

Still working on editing Chapter 8! I’m hoping to get it up this weekend for your viewing pleasure. However, Raiders of the Lost Ark is showing at my local cinema this weekend so I can’t promise that 1980s action movies won’t get in the way...!

As always, feel free to reach out on Twitter (@RH_Webster) or Facebook (www.facebook.com/RHWebster.ScienceFiction) with any comments, questions, or just to chat.

Have a wonderful weekend! Hope to see you at the hangout!

A host of strong female characters including the lead. Space! Technology! Violence! AI! Taking the Bechtel to space and slicing it up! This is right up my street and I’m looking forward to getting my blades on it x

Dear Readers,

Apologies for the delay in sending out updates. My IRL job was crazy over the last week and I am just now getting caught up.

Bad news first: As you have probably figured out, we did not win the Nerdist Space Opera contest, but not for lack of trying!

Good news: We did make it to our Quill! Quill means that we have sold a minimum of 250 copies. We are still funding and will continue to sell copies until May 2. With luck and help from everyone seeing this update, we will get 500 more copies sold and be able to go forward with a full publishing deal!

As incentive, I will post Chapter 8 to Inkshares once I finish editing it. I will post Chapter 9 when we get to 500 copies sold, and I will post Chapter 10 when we reach full funding goal of 750 copies sold!

Thanks for all your support so far in this campaign!

Dear Readers,

By my count (using my fingers...I’m a writer, not a mathematician), we have SIXTEEN HOURS left in the Nerdist Space Opera contest. That’s 16 hours to get the 70 more unique readers that we need to win the contest. If you’re following this novel, but haven’t purchased a copy yet (and you know who you are), do so now so your contribution will count towards the contest!

Also, some exciting news: Lucky was chosen by the Break the Bechdel with Strong Female Characters Syndicate to be their March nomination. This nomination came in late last night and I only saw the email this morning, but I feel truly honored as an author to have my work chosen by this Syndicate for support.

That’s all for now (and I need to refill my coffee mug too). I’ll be back later this afternoon/evening with an update and maybe even a plan for the future!

Thanks to all of you for your support and your faith in this novel.

Dear Readers,

TIME IS RUNNING OUT. This is it. The final 24 hours of the Nerdist Space Opera contest is upon us. I am sad to report that LUCKY is still trapped at number 5 and a very solid 75 UNIQUE READERS behind where it needs to be to win the book deal. We’ve had a good run, but I don’t see us making any Hail Mary plays in the next 24 hours to get us across that finish line.

Chin up, though. I have a plan. If nothing else, we are only 25 copies from our Quill goal of 250. This is damn amazing, if you ask me. Your support and your faith in this novel are heartwarming and have kept me smiling over the past month and a half.

If we do not win tomorrow, the funding deadline for LUCKY will most likely be extended until May 2. We will take maybe a day to regroup, drink some more coffee and maybe eat a donut...then it will be 100 miles a minute back on this marketing stuff. Stay tuned for updates as we go along!

As always, a thousand thank-yous for your support and faith!

PS: Please forgive any typos...this message is being relayed from a mobile communications platform.

Dear Readers,

Just time for a quick update before I have to go do my dishes (yay for responsibilities, am I right?).

FIRST: Chapter Seven has been uploaded! This is the last chapter I will be uploading before the end of the Nerdist contest so...ENJOY!

SECOND: I’m still waiting on a few more purchases before AC Weston and I raffle off ten FREE copies of her novel, She Is The End. Don’t hesitate if you want a copy of this wonderful novel!

THIRD AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: We are still 75 copies short of where we need to be to win the Nerdist Space Opera Contest! There is only the remainder of today, Monday and Tuesday to make your purchase count for the contest. I am the point of imploring each of you - $10 from each person receiving this update will push us over that ledge into success!

If you haven’t purchased yet, I want to know what I can do to help you make that decision, either to preorder or not. Let me know via email (adrian.babst@gmail.com - yes, it’s me. Webster is a pen name) or on Twitter (@RH_Webster) or Facebook (www.facebook.com/RHWebster.ScienceFiction). I am keeping a close eye on all of these and will be trying to respond to each of you as quickly as possible.

In return, I will tell you all the fun story about how where the name RH Webster came from. It’s a rip roaring tale about...a kid, a missed homework assignment, and a stairwell.

Dear Readers,

Time for that big announcement from myself and AC Weston! Ms Weston has been so kind as to offer ten copies of her book, She Is The End, as a raffle for the next twenty people who order Lucky! This gives any one of you a 50/50 chance of getting not one, but two books for your order price. If there’s something better than two books for the price of one, I can’t think of it.

Also, we’ll just go ahead and have an early Christmas today, shall we? I have completed basic edits for Chapter Seven of Lucky and am planning to post it this afternoon. Stay tuned for that as well!

Remember, the Nerdist Space Opera contest ends at midnight on March 15, 2016. If you want your contribution to help us win the contest, don’t hesitate to preorder your copy of Lucky today!

Dear Readers,

SIX DAYS LEFT before the end of the Nerdist Space Opera Contest!  We had been sitting comfortably at #3 on the leaderboard for about a week when out of nowhere two other books took our spot, pushing us back down to #5.

THIS is the time for us to rally and grab support from any and all corners! Have a coworker who likes to read? Tell them about this novel and this campaign! Walk them through the very simple steps to preorder their copy of Lucky. Have a cousin that likes to donate money to political campaigns? Tell them their $10 is better used here, furthering the creation of novels. Have a library in your neighborhood? Grab an extra copy and donate it to your local library!

In honor of only having SIX DAYS LEFT (imagine me saying that in a loud, dramatically booming voice), CHAPTER SIX will be online for your enjoyment this afternoon! And this time I really mean it - I will get it uploaded in the next two hours so you can read it over dinner after work tonight.

As always, dear Readers, you are the force that is driving this campaign. It is your donations and your willingness to believe in this novel that will make it possible! Don’t let Lucky slip away now - we’re almost there!

- Webster

Dear Readers,

I hope you have enjoyed Chapter 5! I received some very good feedback from my beta readers on the chapter and am anticipating that it can only improve through the on-going editing process.

We have EIGHT DAYS days left before the end of the Nerdist Space Opera contest on March 15. On the one hand, that’s not much time...but on the other hand, think of all the good things that can happen in a week. Readers, you are the driving force behind this campaign. Without your faithful following and contribution, we would never have made it this far.

This being said, I would like to sincerely request that if you are following this project but have not yet made a preorder, please consider doing so before the end of the Nerdist contest.  Winning this contest means that we will get automatically published by Inkshares, complete with editing and promotion and all those wonderful things we want to see happen to our favorite stories.

As an incentive, I will be uploading Chapter 6 later this week (probably Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how work goes) and then Chapter 7 on Saturday afternoon (also, it can be our lucky number 7...see what I did there?).  Stay tuned for exciting developments in the lives of our heroes as they fly across the stars!

I wish happy reading to all of you!
