Another rejection from a very reputable literary agency, although they did say that I could write, and would welcome any further submissions from me. I suspect they’re just being polite, the bastards.

Wrote an official complaint to my publisher (top 2 in the world) and simply asked why, when launching a new book, my royalty statement says zero spent on promotion. I told them that I was upset at my first email being ignored, and told them that I’m just a nurse, but I would never treat even the unpleasant and difficult patients the way they’ve treated me, and I always try hard to be respectful and give the best care. My complaint has now reached the top level, ie executive types right at the pinnacle of the publishing pyramid. Will be very interesting to see what happens. I’ve probably burnt my bridges, but at least I’ll get an answer. Maybe they will give me my rights back. I mean, how is it possible to launch a new book, with on promotion? This makes no sense whatsoever.

I agree with what Michael Hasse said.

Hey Bryn,
The writing process is a brutal one. hang in there. I don’t think it’s any lack of support for your work, but perhaps the silence on your last sample is just the result of the fatigue of so many authors feverishly pitching their own work. I haven’t gotten any reception for any of the direct chapters I’ve posted, but the collection of reviews and recommendations keep me going. With this site being quite author-centric, Sometimes things get lost in the shuffle. I’ve found it best to wave your hands in the air furiously when being swept away in a riptide. Hang in there...your work is still brilliant from my perspective.

Thinking of approaching the lawyers in regards to my last book, which a top two publisher own the rights for, but spent zero on promotion for its launch. Feeling too worn out to go through the inkshares process and build up a base etc, especially when I’ve spent 10yrs of doing the hard work and over 100 rejections, only to have success,  around 200,000 sales, and then get screwed. Inkshares has some great writers, but I’m lost here. My last sample posted here got no reviews, so why to people bother saying it’s great. If it’s not, please don’t say it is.

Oh dear, what a rambling, depressing update. I better shut-up.

Please check out my new snippet, ’Mr Rodgers.’ I promise, absolutely and utterly guarantee, that you will love it. It’s bloody brilliant. And once you’ve finished, please share it with as many other people as you can.

Sorry for sounding so obnoxious, but I don’t mean to be. I’ve come to understand one of my weaknesses, which is sometimes a strength, and that is that I’m often ruled by my emotions, and when I’m feeling good, I have to let everyone know.

I happened to be reading through my book, and fell in love with it again - which is a good thing as I’d almost given up on it and began to think it a steaming pile of manure - and on the spur of the moment, felt I had to share this particular sample.

I think this is the start to something brilliant. The honesty and comedy in self-reflection is part of the healing process. Most people aren’t willing to revisit any bit of their past they saw as largely negative, and those people need people like Bryn to write about their own experiences so they can feel less alone and perhaps even heal. Keep it up, Bryn. I’m excited to read more from you!
Sadly, my attempt to drum up interest didn’t work, but thanks for those who did respond. But for now, I’ll hold off posting more of my book.

Share!  We won’t judge!

Ok guys, I’m completely lost on inkshares, and have discovered modern media has surpassed my ability to keep up, but.... I’m going to try something. I have another hilarious snippet to add, but it’s so good, I’m reluctant to share it. I have to be convinced. So please, feel free to convince me.
