Hiya Hexers!

I just finished writing a really touching scene, one I had been avoiding all week. Now that it’s done, I feel liberated and am ready to tackle the rest of chapter 7.

In the last couple of days we’ve had a half dozen orders, bringing our total up to 261. Thanks so much new backers! Onward to #DHM750!

As a quick reminder for any new backers, I’m making all the chapters of the first draft (uncut, unrevised, unedited) available to those who preorder the book. The trick of it is, I can’t spam you with emails without your consent, so if you want to read the book before it’s released, make sure to sign up for my email list here: http://eepurl.com/bw4Cvz

Okay, that’s it for now. I have some sewing to do.  Have a great rest of your Sunday!

Love,

Amanda

Hi all!

Just a note to let you know that I’m still plugging along on writing the first draft of Deus Hex Machina. In fact I just put up chapter 6 on the [URL redacted by order of the Church of Technology].

Well that was weird.  If you are already a backer of the book you can find the code in the email Isidore sent you. It will enable you to read all the chapters so far.

I’m ramping up to head into the Disneyland prison in chapter 7, which is going to be a blast. Did I tell you I used to work there? Wow, time flies.

Thanks again for your support of the book! I can’t wait for you all to get a chance to read it!

Love,
Amanda

Once upon a time I held a raffle every ten orders. Do you remember those days? They seem so long ago, when we were all young, and the book hadn’t even really started being a draft. Fun times.

Well now that I have come out of Camp Nanowrimo 2016 on the winning side, I am able to get back to some of the things that I  put off...like this:

Yessiree, I’m shipping out the raffle prizes!

As soon as I get access to a car, I’ll be putting most of the signed copies of Shadow of the Owl in the mail. I still need to order a couple more, so there will be a round two of shipments happening over the course of the next few weeks.

Speaking of prizes, I wanted to  update you all on the standings for my Street Team rewards.  Currently the top five referrers are as follows:

1. Elizabeth Dewey: 30
2. Billy O’Keefe: 8
3. Jason Pomerance: 6
4. Joe Terzieva: 6
5. Danny Minin: 3

Congrats to Elizabeth Dewey, who’s blowing everyone out of the water! Think you can do better?  Let’s find out!

Here’s a quick refresher on what prizes are available as Street Team rewards:

There are some awesome things in here, and I can’t wait to see who wins that grand prize. The trick is, the book has to fully fund for that to happen, and DHM is 500 orders away, with only 50 days left in the funding campaign. Who wants to help push this book toward the finish line?

Psst...this message is to all those who have preordered DHM.

Chapter 5 is now available for your consideration. Your codes for chapter 4 will give you access to the chapter, just follow the instructions in the email Isidore sent.

And for those just following the book with interest, you can get access to the full first draft as it’s being written. All you need to do is preorder the book and sign up for my email newsletter so that I have permission to send you email updates like the one that contains instructions on how to read the book. You’ll want to read chapter 5, trust me, if only for the chimichangas.

I’ve just started writing chapter 6, but I’m hoping to have it done either today or tomorrow. I really want to see how close to done I can be with the draft by the end of the month. Trouble is, more cool stuff keeps getting added to the book, so the length has so far expanded by two chapters. Like the chimichangas. Did I mention the chimichangas?

Have a great Tuesday, and feel free to let me know what you think of the book in the comments here, or on Facebook, Twitter, or hit me up via email: amanda [at] goldleafbooks [dot]com.

Okay, back to writing!

@Amanda Orneck Hey i missed that update! congrats on QUILL Amanda, great job!! very happy for u.

So something happened overnight that I wasn’t expecting. We hit the light publishing goal. No matter what, this book is getting published, and I have you generous, handsome, intelligent, marvelous people to thank for it.

I can’t stop smiling.

On the writing front, I am one scene away from finishing chapter 5, and then I’ll send it out to all the backers. Isidore has left Ess-Dee behind, and next she’s heading into the heart of Oh-See, the house of mouse. It’s going to be a blast to write, especially as someone who used to work there.

I want you to know I won’t stop hustling on this project. I still have the Machina Crew rewards for those that refer people to buy the book. Those referrals might be easier now that it’s guaranteed that they will get their book in their hands. I still have 57 days to see if I can get this book fully funded.  But even if I don’t, the book you receive will be professionally edited, with a professional cover and all the love I have for Orange County poured into its pages.

Today though, no hustle. Just writing. Well, writing and smiling.

 Hiya hexers,

I have a few things brewing today that I wanted to let you know about.  First of all is this contest over on my FB page: https://www.facebook.com/amanda.orneck/posts/10209494310658402 Head on over to enter to win a Church of Technology pendant, and like the page while you’re there, will ya?

Secondly, I’ve sent out the first back-only chapter update this morning. If you want to be able to read chapter 4 (and 5 through 9 when they’re done), go ahead and back the project today. We’re only 31 orders away from Quill, so DHM could definitely use the support.

Anyway, back to writing!

Howdy hexers!

I’m going to pause the cyberpunk madness for a little bit, to let you know about another book that needs your help. J-F Dubeau’s novel A God in the Shed is a Lovecraft meets Twin Peaks romp through the suburbs of Quebec. I know several of you are huge old gods nerds, *cough* Kidthulhu *cough*, so this is definitely up your alley.

Here is the spiel. Take a look, and if you have credits or cash to spare, give this book some love:
A God in the Shed by J-F Dubeau is a Fantasy/Horror story set in the forgettably small village of St-Ferdinand, in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. The villagers have been hiding terrible secret for generations, but when their mysterious captive escapes but gets inadvertently trapped in the McKenzy’s backyard shed, it’s up to the Venus and her friends to figure out how to dispose of this terrible and malevolent burden; an Old God of hate and death.
You can find out more about this dark and beautiful, read sample chapters, reviews and pre-order you copy of A God in the Shed here.

You can listen to the prologue as read by Ageless author Paul Inman here: youtu.be/XJw5oZhqtXo

Need more incentive?
  • Each pre-order enters you into the ‘I want to kill a reader’ raffle. The winner will have his name and likeness used in the book as a minor character that gets killed off. The author will work with the winner to find the appropriate means of demise to satisfy both the winner and the story.
  • Each physical copy of A God in the Shed will be signed and numbered as an exclusive first edition item.
  • Free, exclusive A God in the Shed bookmarks will be included with the physical copies and mailed to eBook supporters.• Orders of three or more copies guarantees your name to appear in the Patrons list printed at the end of the book.• You get to enjoy the satisfaction and pride at having supported both art and literature.
Head on over to the book’s Inkshares page and order your copy before time runs out!
