Friends, Readers, and Sorcerers All,
The pre-orders are steadily rolling in. We’re currently at 118 and climbing. And this week, the book received two more great reviews!
Amanda C. Thompson says: "This looks like such a fun read! I loved books with little extras in the margins at that age. The idea reminds me of "So You Want to Be a Wizard" by Diane Duane (one of my favorites in middle school), but it looks like you’ve updated it and lightened the mood. Looking forward to reading more!"
Thank you Amanda! "So You Want to be a Wizard" was one of my favorites as well. Be sure to check out Amanda’s book at: https://www.inkshares.com/books/atlas-of-dreams-5050
The second is from Wade Werner: "Quickly got into the character of Owen and his conflict with Bryan. I like the way the narrator intercedes in the story without interrupting the action or storyline. The unfolding plot line hooks the reader as you want to discover if Owen will evade his pursuers and exactly what is this new environment he finds himself in. Great for the young adult readers (and adults)! I look forward to the remaining chapters: this was fun--and well-written!"
Full disclosure -- Wade was also my eighth grade English teacher, and without his encouragement and after-class tutorials, I probably would have never become a writer. Thank you for everything, Wade!
If you haven’t yet bought a pre-order, please consider doing so in the next few days. The Geek and Sundry contest ends on Nov 1, and only the top 3 pre-sellers will be given full marketing and distribution support by Inkshares. That means we’d have to sell 200 more copies to crack the top 3. It’s a lot to ask, but you guys are so amazing, I know we can do it.
Thanks again for your support!

Readers, Friends, and Sorcerers All ...
... One hundred, that is. ONE HUNDRED PRE-ORDERS!!
Not bad for two weeks. I can’t thank you all enough. You showed your support with your Facebook shares, and your tweets, and most importantly, your pocket books.
As of today, there are 14 days left in the Inkshares publishing contest. I’d love to sell 200 more pre-orders by then, and make it into the top three. Is it a tall order? For sure. We entered this contest late but you guys have stepped up in amazing fashion. I think we can do it. That’s 21 orders a day. If every person who followed this book on Inkshares bought a pre-order, we’d be more than halfway there. If everyone convinced someone they know to take a look and buy a copy for their nephew, we’d be done. I would be over the moon.
I believe in you all. And I thank you for all your support!
Friends, Readers, and Sorcerers All,
We have officially completed the first week of our pre-order campaign. And thanks to you, we’ve already sold 63 copies! That’s 25% of our ’light’ publishing goal, but we still have 50 copies to go to crack the top ten of the Geek & Sundry contest.
For those who haven’t yet hit the pre-order button, we (or rather my graphic designer wife) drew up a formatting sample to entice you. Because SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS is a novel disguised as a "For Dummies" guide, it can be a bit confusing to read the sample chapters. But thanks to my bride’s mad skills on Adobe Illustrator, you don’t have to imagine the beauty of the finished book. You can view it here:
The finished book may look quite different, but it gives you a sense of what we’re going for. I’m also planning to put up a sample chapter later this week. But for now, keep those pre-orders rolling in! I really appreciate the support and I can’t wait to send you the finished book!
Thanks again,
mh
WOW. It’s only been one day, but we already sold 30 BOOKS thanks to you guys! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all the shares, likes, and most importantly, PRE-ORDERS. If you know anyone who might like a fun book about magic, or haven’t gotten around to pre-ordering yet, the link is here:

We have 29 days left to get around 300 buyers. If we hit that milestone, the publisher will provide full marketing, editing, and distribution support. SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS will be sold in real bookstores, on Amazon, and everywhere else you can find the printed word. But we need to sell more books!
Readers, Supporters, and Sorcerers All --
The time has come. After much discussion, revision, and consultation of star charts, we ... are ... LIVE!
SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS, which has resided on Inkshares in draft mode for nearly a year, is finally accepting pre-orders. I thank you all for your patience, advice, and wonderful reviews. The book is complete, and I look forward to sharing more of it with you over the coming weeks.
One of the reasons I decided to launch now is to take part in the Geek and Sundry Fantasy Contest. I know I’m coming in late, but with your support I know I can sell enough books in the next 30 days to crack the top three. But I need your help! Please, click on that pre-order button, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. We’re even adding in some extra-cool, secret incentives for the very first people who join the campaign.
Thanks again, and beware the Euclideans --

Greetings, me hearties! And thanks again for following Sorcery for Beginners. We’re still make some tweaks before we start to sell pre-orders, but in the meantime, I have launched another project as part of the Geek and Sundry Fantasy Contest! You can find it here:
https://www.inkshares.com/books/freewalker
It’s a fun, Harry Potter-esque adventure, but instead of wizards, there are STEAMPUNK PIRATES. I’ve been working on the book for a long time, before I finished Sorcery, and I have a full, polished manuscript. I will be putting up a chapter or so a week, and I will have various other incentives along the way.
But in the meantime, take a look. If you like what you see, I’d be oh-so-grateful if you tossed a pre-order my way. Being a published author has been a dream of mine for a long, long time, and you can help make that a reality! Thanks again for all your support.

Hi All,
I know, it’s been awhile since I’ve sent any updates. We are actually very, very (very!) close to launching our funding campaign. The book is complete, but there are just a few more elements we want to get in place before we start asking for pre-orders. One is a temp cover, which was just completed by the talented Juliane Crump. Thanks Juliane!
You can see the cover, and read more about SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS on the project page: https://www.inkshares.com/books/sorcery-for-beginners
Thanks for checking it out, and let us know what you think!

PS...It’d mean the world to me if after you clicked the link above, you sent this email to a handful of friends, family, and co-workers.

We just cracked 100 readers! That’s ONE HUNDRED unique, amazing people supporting this book!! 133 copies sold!!! Exclamation points all around!!!!
Seven more readers, and we’ll be in the TOP TEN of this contest. 200 more readers by Nov 1, and SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS will get a FULL PUBLISHING and MARKETING deal! It’s a tall order you guys, but we can do it. I know we entered late, and the Internet got hacked today, but let’s show the cyber-terrorists they can’t keep us down.
Let’s keep this train rolling! As an added incentive -- anyone who purchases a pre-order in the next 36 hours will get a PERSONALIZED HAIKU written by me. Even if that’s more of a deterrant than incentive, the time to act is NOW. We have 10 days left in this contest. That’s 20 new readers a day. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again. I can’t thank you all enough. Onward!
