Just got a hold of this cover image by Binny V A over at Flickr (https://www.flickr.com/people/binnyva). I love it. The symbolism of the crow plays a big part in the narrative, so to get an image like this, with a crow against the backdrop of a blood-red sky? Perfect! Love, love, love this. Gorgeous photo. I'm learning a lot about photo licensing and what can be used for what purpose, so I made sure to make sure that I investigated this one exhaustively. Now I just have to finish the friggin' thing. :)
I did the calculations today. 400 estimated pages for the finished manuscript, 250 words per page...that's 100,000 words. I'm currently at 43,000 words...57,000 to go divided by a conservative 5,000 words a week...that's about 3 months. Add in another month of editing, sweating, and emotional distress, and we're looking at 4 months to a finished product.
Holy crap. Holy crap. Holy crap crap crap.
I'm told that successful people, the great ones, set goals for themselves and then commit to meeting them. Seems reasonable enough. So, 4 months, then. There...I did it! I committed, and will commit until they commit me and have me committed for my commitment.
Thanks to everybody who have followed me thus far! I'm considering putting up Chapter 1 for perusal, and of course welcome any feedback on the current state of this thing, this monster, this bump-in-the-night, stalks-me-at-all-times, constant presence of a story. Begone, foul beast!
I'm sorry, beast...you know you smell like lavender and I love you with all the cuddles. ALL OF THEM. Just please don't eat me.
