INMAN INSIDERS!  (Welcome to all the new followers!)

Here we go again!

I have entered into the Nerdist Collection Contest with hopes to get another book published!  THE GOOD NEWS IS this contest is all about unique readers!  We placed 2nd in the spring Sword and Laser Contest with most unique readers!

The book in question is titled Motor City Chronicles - Book One: Transgressions (click to pre-order).

My friend Patrick Ryerson and I are co-authoring this book together.  Our hope is to make it a series of short novellas that tell this legendary tale of good and evil.  The story is set mostly in 2030 in the fictionalized Motor City...

In the year 2030, the world struggles to find balance after nuclear war. 17 year old orphan, Cam Blackwell, holds an ancient secret that could bring balance to the Earth. But first, he has bigger problems.

Read the first few chapters on here, and consider pre-ordering!  Thanks for the continued support.

AGELESS NEWS!

I sat down and had my first production meeting with the team at Inkshares and Girl Friday Productions.  The production start date for Ageless is Sept. 1!  In our confrence call this week we walked through the entire timeline from start to finish!  I am happy to say that I have been in touch with the dev editor, Lindsay, and all the behind the scenes stuff will go into full swing very soon.

We have a solid release date too!  I'm going to hold that close to the chest for now...just in case something changes.

Thanks Insiders!

Hey gang. Welcome to all the new followers!  I hope all is well!  Want a sneak peek at the back cover copy?  Keep reading.

Just a little insight to my manuscript.  Before submission, I spent some time reading it again and editing.  I made a big decision to split one of the larger chapters into two separate chapters, and not only that, I MOVED the new chapter to a different location in the book.  It's a scary move.  I hope it pays off.  The original chapter was just too long, but it was important info for the story.

Speaking of manuscript, I am just waiting patiently to get my feedback from the editors.  Word is we are getting the ISBN and Library of Congress numbers situated this past week.

My full time job of teaching went back into full swing as of this passed week, so I'm about to be very busy!  I will keep you all updated as often as possible.

Spread the word about Ageless and get some people interested in the book, the more pre-orders the better!

I had to write a draft for the back cover for the editors.  Here is the first paragraph...subject to change of course...

Alessandra has spent her extraordinarily long life in hiding because she is unlike anyone else.  She has a secret that could change the world.  Buried somewhere in her genetic code is the key to extended life, possibly immortality.

Thanks for everything that you all do!

Paul

Just a quickie:

I thought you all may be interested to know I finished my final personal edits on the Ageless manuscript and I've submitted it to Inkshares.  I still need to finish this new author questionnaire, but THE MANUSCRIPT IS NOW OUT OF MY HANDS and should move on to a professional very soon!

Welcome to all of the new followers!  If you haven't yet pre-ordered, then go for it!  We are very close to having 800 pre-orders (that blows my mind guys!).

Tomorrow is my 35th birthday.  In honor of that, here is an excerpt from page 35 of Ageless:

“Holy shit, whatcha doing Tank?  You haven’t been touched yet!” PunkZappa moaned.  “Get out there and give us some breathing room, or this will be over before it starts.”

“What do you think that I am trying to do, blow dry my hair?” said Magis Ka.  “I can’t get in front of him; he’s like hopping around all over the damn place.”

With XinXin out for the count until healed, FDO’s Right Hand Man moved his avatar into attacking position.  He charged toward the back side of Hadroc and began a melee attack.  Hadroc, who now had taken a small amount of damage, kicked out with his hind legs and sent FDO flying.  Immediately, Take Me Gnome Tonight was on his job casting healing spells.  It should be noted that, so far, Take Me Gnome Tonight had brought his “A” game to tonight’s raid.

“I HAVE HIM!” Magis Ka suddenly exclaimed, “ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!”

Everyone began attacking.  XinXin, PunkZappa, and FDO’s Right Hand Man began a brutal onslaught on the left, right, and rear of the monstrosity.  Bearisa Fo Mundie began firing arrows toward Hadroc’s head and torso, while Take Me Gnome Tonight and Merlin’s Neck Beard cast high-damaging spells directly toward him.  Collectively, the group was functioning better since their disheveled introduction to Hadroc.

Thanks everyone for everything,

Paul

FOUR!  FOUR MORE!

That's all the preorders that we need to break into the 800's!  That amazes me!  You guys are so awesome!

Welcome to all the new followers!  I have finally finished my travels across the USA!  Now, I hope to be back to a more regular update schedule.  So here's where we are...I am looking into getting a website put together in the near future for all the Ageless goodness.  Speaking of the novel, here where I am right now:

"That"

Literally.  Right there.

BUT this is what I have been up to while I was on the road.

I create. That's what I do.  I like to create videos.

I created this.  Watch it here.  Then watch the supplemental videos here and here. (hint: click the words "here")

Seriously, here's a short excerpt from the page I am currently editing on in my big read through.

“That went well,” she said, sliding into the passenger seat of the hybrid.

“It always does,” Mark countered dryly, “I’m going to call the Philly office and see if we can get a shadow on Chapman.  We need to know what he is doing at all times.  Something’s happening soon, I can feel it.”

The black hybrid backed out of the driveway and left Vividleaf Lane.

Now, I have a massive chapter I need to break up.  So, if you'll excuse me...

Until next time,

Paul

Good evening all!  I hope you are well!

(Let's get the business out of the way first) If you haven't followed me here on Inkshares, please do so by clicking here and then click follow!  I'm still working on my best polished draft before I send in my manuscript for dev. edits.

So, something a little more fun now? Sure, why not?

Those of you who know me personally already know that my wife and I are traveling around our amazing country (USA, for those of you who might be from somewhere else).

Today we had the pleasure of stopping by the Inkshares office in San Francisco.  We had a chance to me the creative team behind this amazing publishing company.  They gladly welcomed us into their little part of the world and treated us with kind words and respect.  Avalon, my contact at Inkshares, helped set up the meeting and it was an absolute pleasure to meet her along with Matt, Thad, and everyone else who help run this outstanding start up.  Read on...you know you want to...

When my wife and I arrived, we were offed refreshments (which I immediately took, San Francisco is all hills, I am chubby...do the math).  We were quickly introduced to several people who were hard at work.  Inkshares is currently in launch phase for Mr. Gary Whitta's debut novel, Abomination.  They were packaging over 900 novels to be distributed across the country.  I was lucky enough to receive a signed hardcover 1st Edition, 1st Print (even though I already had bought the e-book version, and it's great so far).

Next, we were given a tour of The Vault office area.  There are about 20 start up companies sharing the office space.  We were informed it was the old Ghiradelli factory that had burned during a fire a long time ago.  The office is really cool and it's an inviting place to work.  We finished the tour by stopping in what was called the library.  They had books up that they had recently published (I was given another book that also looks like a great read, a mystery called One Murder More).

I met Thad hard at work in this area and we all discussed the history of the company and the future of the company a bit.  It was all very fascinating.  Then, they were all kind enough to give us some recommendations and hidden gems to explore in and around the city.

I am happy to get to meet the people who will help make Ageless a reality.  I can freely admit I was slightly nervous; that doesn't happen to me much anymore.  Yet, everyone was so nice and easy going that my nerves melted away and I genuinely had a great time.

Then it was back to work.  Those books aren't going to pack and ship themselves.

Until next time, keep being amazing and spreading the word.  I don't call you Inman Insiders for nothing...

Paul

Hello INMAN INSIDERS!

It has been a while since my last written update, so...four quickies.

1) I have written a non-fiction piece with the hope of getting it into an anthology about technology here on Inkshares  -  Go here to read it and follow.

2) The manuscript for AGELESS is finished.  In fact it's been finished for a LONG time.  I am currently reading it one more time before sending it in to the pros.  The goal is to have submitted by next week.

3) I have finally figured out how to post the video updates to the Inkshares AGELESS page (at least the most current video).  They will change about once a week so click over and watch.

4) For those of you that are social media savvy come follow our fan page (where you can watch all the back logged video updates) and read my tiny stories (also called Tweets) on Twitter!

AND BONUS (cus I like the way you smell)!

5) KEEP SPREADING THE WORD!

Have your friends/family/co-workers/enemies/frenemies/nemesis/neighbors(even those weird ones you don't like)/gas station attendants/that mean kid down the street/the strange-old-lady-always-cutting-her-flowers-in-her-nightgown-in-the-middle-of-the-day-all-summer/bff's/4th cousins removed/your-one-uncle-that-lives-in-another-country-but-you-can't-be-bothered-to-remember-which-one...to PRE-ORDER AGELESS!!

Thanks everyone, I wouldn't be here without you!

Paul

One more thing, follow me on Twitter! @paulinmansc

Hey All!

It's been ONLY one week since the contest ended!  It feels like years!  I wanted to throw a quick update your way...I am smack in the middle of getting the pre-production questionnaire and creative brief done.  I am finding it very challenging, and stimulating, to answer questions about something I have created.

You guys have all been so amazing with your support, maybe you could help with this too.  In your opinion, what book(s) have you read that compare to Ageless?  It could be a character or theme.  What does it remind you of?  Hopefully, it is unique, but if there is something, what is it?  I know we have backers from all over the globe, and your opinion and feelings matter to me!  I want you to experience this process along with me.  If you have any thoughts, let me know!

Also, 24 more books to sell until we reach 800 pre-orders!  We can reach 24 more AMAZINGLY FANTASTIC, WONDERFUL, GORGEOUS...(adverb placement) books easily!  You guys are a force of nature!  And nature is untamable!

I have added the artwork I have designed (read borrowed) for the book cover.  In my mind it was great, but now that I am looking at it...yikes!  The concept is cool.  I think, ultimately, this will not make the cut for the actual book.

OH, first draft is due in AUGUST.  I have begun combing through the manuscript to clean up anything I can see, but these eyes have lived with this too long, so there will be somethings that get past me for certain.  Whose idea was it to make this thing a massive 400+ pages!  Jeez, imagination settle down over there!

Until next time, 24 more to break 800!

Paul

ARE YOU AGELESS?

Hey all, I am a tired! The contest ended at 3 AM EST last night for me, and I am beat! As you may, or may not, know we finished THIRD overall!!  That is all you guys!  You are amazing and I am humbled by everything that you have done over the duration of this contest.  You all have been the greatest advocates for AGELESS!  Without you I wouldn't be here!  You all rock!

What's next? Well for me, lots of cleaning up the manuscript and getting it ready for the editorial process.  The rough timeline puts the book into your hands sometime in late February or maybe early March.

Today around 3 PM EST there will be an announcement of which book made it into the Sword and Laser Collection.  So, cross your fingers and toes for that!

Once again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! You helped me accomplish a dream that I have worked towards for many years.  I cannot express the overwhelming feelings I have bouncing around inside of me. Just know that I am forever grateful!

Paul
