Hey guys!

I'll TRY to be brief...TRY...

Lots of things have been going on since my last update.

  1. I have finished my first pass at the developmental edits and Lindsay, the editor, was very happy with the changes I made.  There were significant changes.  I cut between 5000-6000 words!  That is a ton of cutting!  But trim the fat right...
  2. The cover is coming together nicely!  we should have something locked down in the very near future!
  3. Inkshares will be changing the way the funding system works this Friday (250 preorders= light publication and 750= full publication with signed paperbacks)!
  4. SO if you haven't ever looked at MCC - Book One: Transgressions (click me), now would be a good time.  The preorder cost will go up to $20 one Friday.  Right now you can get in with JUST $10!   Help Pat and I get this book rolling with the new funding goals!
  5. LAST - I WILL BE LIVE ON *CHANGES* THIS WEDNESDAY MORNING.  It's a live GOOGLE HOA where we will talk about lots of different things including AGELESS and MCC - Book One: Transgressions
Thanks guys!
You are all rock stars!

Paul

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION!

I want to tell you about a great book here on Inkshares by Jack Bender, the director/exec producer of LOST, UNDER THE DOME, and THE LAST SHIP, and currently, director of GAME OF THRONES. Jack has 1 day left to reach his pre-order goal and he's so close, so I'd really like to help him.

Jack is an amazing artist, so this book, called Elephant in the Room, is his adult picture book featuring paintings, drawings, and sculptures along with minimal words, to tell three different stories. Like a fairy tale for adults, the characters are twisted and all struggle to survive in a strange and challenging world. Please help this great book succeed by spreading the word and ordering your copy. I've ordered 3 copies to support Jack and hope to see this one hit 1000 before the end of the day.

Click the cover to find out more, and please share this with your friends:

Greetings INMAN INSIDERS!

So many great things in this update...

  •  Last night while I was asleep, we hit 400 followers for AGELESS!  Thanks to all of you who have been here from the beginning and thanks to Yun Xin Tan for joining us!

  • Speaking of followers - If you weren't aware, there are people who have preordered AGELESS from FIVE out of the SEVEN continents on EARTH.  You guys, my mind just melted.  That is INSANE!  I love you all for that...now to get some representation from the African continent.  That uninhabited one in the south is going to be tough though.

  • OH and speaking of preorders - we are at 814 at the time of this writing.  I would hope that we can break 1000 by the time the book hits the shelves late next spring.  We are on track.

  • AGELESS production is in full swing!  Last Wednesday I had two conference calls.  The first was about the cover design.  We will have some options to look over very soon.  The second was all about the story!  I talked with Lindsay Robinson about how we can tear it apart and build it better!  I should have all the notes by late next week!  I am excited!

  • This past week AGELESS was spotlighted by Elan Samuel on The Warbler.  He also has a book funding on Inkshares titled One!  Go check those out!

  • I can't talk about it much, but something unique will be coming your way very soon.  I know that tells you nothing, but that's all I got...

  • Last bit of fun, as one of the winning entries in the Sword and Laser Contest last spring, I get a mini writing workshop with Gary Whitta of Abomination and the new movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.    I was recently contacted about getting that meeting scheduled.   I am can't wait to see if he will give me any spoilers!
Last (for real though), Thanks for your support!  Be sure to support these other great authors whose stories will be the next big thing.

They're all great covers and great recordings. I couldn't help but share with my best little birdie voice.

Not a problem for the shout out!  And Paul Robinson knocked it out of the park!  I love it too!

Thanks for the shout-out, Paul! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new cover for Ageless!

LOTS  OF THE THINGS...

388.  That's the amount of followers that are (at the time of this writing) connected directly with Ageless.  388.  There are a lot of you!  I am very grateful!  If you're a lover of fiction (of the science or fantasy variety) then you're in luck, I have some recommendations for you!

I have been volunteering my sultry vocal cords (haha) and creating audio excerpts for some of the people on Inkshares that I have found to be interesting.  Here are some that I like... (just a word of warning, most of these have adult content)

First (obviously), lets start with the new novella that my good friend Patrick Ryerson and I are penning. It's called Motor City Chronicles - Book One: Transgressions.  Here's our quick pitch:

In the year 2030, the world struggles to find balance after nuclear war.  17 year old orphan, Cam Blackwell, holds an ancient secret that could bring balance to the Earth.  But first, he has bigger problems.
But it's so much more than that...think Infamous (video game) meets Blade Runner meets American Graffiti with some Sons of Anarchy sprinkled in, only it's so much better that I should add a warning that says "face-melting possible!"

We have it entered into the Nerdist Collection Contest here on Inkshares.com.  The contest ends on September 30th, and like the last contest, the top five books will make it into production!  This time it's the top five with the most unique backers.  Let me remind you that we had the 2nd most in the previous contest.  For less than the price of a meal out, you can be a part of something special!

Take a listen to the audio excerpt!

Next, I would like to share another Nerdist Collection Contest hopeful.  J-F Dubeau's A God in the Shed.  I really enjoyed reading this excerpt.  He creates the perfect amount of tension and mystery in his sample chapter.

So you've inadvertently trapped an ancient trans-dimensional god in your backyard shed; what do you do? That's what Venus MacKenzy and her friends would like to know.

Listen to the prologue here!

I also really enjoyed breathing life into the interesting characters of Paul Robinson's Ghosts of War (also in the Nerdist Collection Contest).  There is quite a lot of action in his sample and I am really interested in finding out how it all plays out.

Ghosts of War is a planet hopping tale of revenge and retribution. Full of action and adventure, twists and turns, and a dash of fun it's like a summer blockbuster in a book.

Take a listen to it here!

(On a side note, Paul was very happy with the excerpt, and he was kind enough to create the following new temp book cover for Ageless.  He did an incredible job creating the vision that I had in my head.  I am very happy with this design! And if you are on the fence, please preorder.)

(Isn't it amazing?!?!)

John Robin's Blood Dawn is another fantastic sounding novel!  He is all about the world building and the long fantasy, as well as great character development.  I truly could see this story being the next really great Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings.

A god-king's empire has crumbled. His dream of immortality, faded. A weaver discovers her skill with cloth is more than it seems, for she is the god-king's long lost daughter. Now she must master her gift to win back her father's stolen throne.

Listen to it here!

Finally, for now anyway, I recently recorded an audio except of Richard Heinz's The Seventh Age: Dawn.  I think the concept of bringing fantasy into the modern age is wonderful and the opening sample here on Inkshares is full of intrigue.

Before the age of reason and science, magic ruled the world. Now, it’s coming back and if most of humanity gets wiped out in the process....well, sometimes you have to break a few eggs.

Listen to the excerpt here!

WOW!  Huge update!  I hope you check out some of the book recommended here and take sometime to look through all the books.  Share this update with friends; we're all in this together!

There are many great stories waiting to be told and you can be part of it.

Paul

Hi again!

I usually try to keep my updates to a minimum of once a week or so, but...

I MUST TELL YOU ABOUT MY NERDIST COLLECTION CONTEST ENTRY!
(Wow, it got loud in here)

Anyway, I am coauthoring a new book with my good friend Patrick Ryerson titled...

MOTOR CITY CHRONICLES - BOOK ONE: TRANSGRESSIONS
(It's a mouthful)

For less than the cost of ONE RESTAURANT MEAL you can preorder this amazing new story from Patrick and me, the writer of AGELESS...(that is always weird to write).

Pat and I could use your help, so please, PLEASE preorder.

In this contest the top five most unique reader counts will get published.  Better hurry though, the contest ends at the end of September and we have a big ladder to climb.

WE CAN'T DO IT ALONE!
(Last time yelling...promise...for this update at least)

Thanks!
Paul

Ladies and Gentleman,

Thank you for all the support over the past few months!  It has been amazing!

Today is the official kick off of the production phase of Ageless.

Everything that has happened before Sept. 1st has been preproduction.  I spent many days over the past few months working up my most current draft of the manuscript to give Inkshares and Girl Friday Productions the best possible product I could make.

Now, today, the developmental editor, Lindsay Robinson, will crack open that manuscript and deconstruct it.  She will tear it down so we can build it back up better than before.  I am ready for that, but it will be a difficult thing.  I've lived with this story for the better part of 3 and a half years, and knowing that the next time I read through it will be marked with the proverbial "red pen" is an emotionally daunting thought.

After our production meeting last week, I have decided I will be very busy this fall and winter with edits on everything from the manuscript itself to the interior and exterior designs, not to mention marketing the book as well.  I am so excited I can't even put my feelings into words that would do any justice.

One last thing, if you haven't preordered a copy of Ageless, what are you waiting for?  ; )

Thanks,
Paul
