Good luck reaching your funding goal, Jamison.

This is the look of EXHAUSTION as the awesome Baltimore Comic Con came to a close!

I'm currently feeling the same with the Nerdist Inkshares contest ending tomorrow at 12 noon! I want to offer a HUGE congratulations to the top 5 winners. I can only image your exhaustion and am truly impressed with the high numbers many of you have gotten.

While I have already pre ordered nearly everyone's books on the top 20+ and am VERY excited to read all the top books, I want to give a special shout out to my convention loving friend Richard Heinz and his AWESOME book The Seventh Age: Dawn. It is his book I am most excited about reading and I highly suggest that all of my new Comic Con friends to check it out! He is a HUGE con goer, so if you have extra credits, spend it on his book!

NOW, for those of you who have not yet Pre-Ordered RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE...

Holy love of the Arkai! GO PRE-ORDER RUNE RIGHT NOW! Jeez!

The Inkshares contest ends at twelve noon tomorrow and I know RUNE can get in the top ten! Regardless, much like Aleksi (the hero of RUNE) I will fulfill my Runic destiny and not just surpass 1000 pre-orders, but well into the tens of thousands! To do so, however, I need your support NOW!

Please show it now by suggesting RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE to your friends and family to get the word out! Your support means the world to me. Thank you!

THANK YOU Baltimore Comic Con!

What an Amazing experience! I cannot tell you how heart warming it was being able to meet so many awesome people and share such passion and excitement not only for RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE, but all the other epic storytelling at Comic Con, too!

(This is an edited version of a post from my website, to read the full post click HERE.)

I have been a long time attendee and cosplayer of many awesome conventions including Comic Con, but have never had my own Artist Alley table before. The ability to meet so many like minded people, shake your hands, look into your eyes, hear your stories, and not only share my dream for RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE, but also hear about your own personal passions too, was profound in ways I cannot describe in words. I am left speechless--which for a former professional speech writer is truly saying something!

All I can say is THANK YOU! Your support and friendship means the world to me. Truly.

My wife Becca and I have been working on RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE in isolation for so many years that having the Comic Con community rally around us like this is amazing. Over the course of just two full (and one half) days, RUNE got nearly 200 pre-orders! Just those orders in-and-of themselves are nearly 20% of our funding goal. Because of them, we are now close to the halfway point of 500 pre-orders! Amazing!

While we still have a long road ahead of us before we hit 1000 pre-orders allowing RUNE to get published (#RotA1k), the inspiration and overwhelming support we received from the Comic Con Community makes us know that together with YOUR help, we can do it!

They way for RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE to truly take off is for you all to harness the power and passion of your social networks and share RUNE with your friends so we can gain some viral impact and spread the word in truly EPIC fashion!

To do this, please "RECOMMEND" RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE via the Inkshares Website to your networks, and also join our growing community on Facebook and Twitter, too! I have some awesome surprises planned, so stay tuned!

Additionally, while Artist Alley Tables are sold out for NY Comic Con 2015, I have asked my publisher Inkshares to look into the getting an actual Exhibition Booth for RUNE!

The ability at Baltimore Comic Con to shake each one of your hands, hear your stories, and make a real personal connection was an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life--and the best part of it is that BCC was only the first convention of many, many to come! I am tremulously excited and have already started planing my next convention!

One of my favorite quotations reads: "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. Only love can break down the walls that stand between us and our happiness."

Well it is places like Comic Con where I am the most happy because I am surrounded by like minded people filled with passion and love for mutually shared inspirations. Because of this, always feel free to reach out to me directly. We truly are all in this together so if you use use  #RotA1k and @StoneJamison I will always respond to your questions, comments, and your own personal projects, too!

The knowledge that RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE, an epic Fantasy/Sci-Fi world that I created during the lonesomeness of my wife's military training/tours, has begun to inspire others in the same ways I have been inspired myself, has filled me with a joy beyond words. BUT please don't hoard that precious treasure all to yourself, because as the above quotation mentioned, it is only through working together and through sharing love--love of stories, friends, and of inspiration--that we can break down the walls that stand between us and our happiness. Please share the treasure of RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE and encourage your friends to join our new and growing community!

Whether it is on InksharesFacebook, or Twitter, we are all in this together--and together we can do so much!

Thank you all so very much for joining RUNE's new and growing community! Knowing that we all have the communal goals of sharing friendship, inspiration, and fun warms my heart beyond anything I have ever experienced! From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!

Sincerely,
Jamison Stone

"What do the "RUNES" from RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE look like?" I have been asked this many times over the past few weeks. Here is my answer--please take a look for yourself:

This RUNE is entitled "Your Deeds Define Your Destiny" and is attributed to Master Rudra, a prominent figure in the world of Terra and to the story of RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE.

This is but one of many RUNES and while it's quotation is seen above, you will need to read the novel to begin to understand its full significance and meaning. So, if you have not done so already,  Pre-order RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE now so you can begin to unlock the mystical mysteries of RUNES for yourself!

Stay curious my friends...

Very proud to say RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE:

  1. Just reached 26% of its funding goal (263+ copies sold!)
  2. Was just featured with an exclusive in "NextGen MilSpouse!"

In this exclusive guest post I go into some very interesting (and never before released) details about the book itself, and how RUNE mirrors many of my experiences as a male military spouse.

"The story deals with the very real issue of gender roles and the complicated desire, as a military spouse, to live up to our service member’s achievements and try to be a hero in our unique way at home. Although told upon the backdrop of an adventure novel, these complicated themes of personal honor, duty, gender roles and committed relationship dynamics—with a partner who serves her country first, and foremost—is the foundation of the main characters’ relationship.

"Although Rune of the Apprentice is exciting and adventurous, the majority of the story is framed by a deep yearning romance between the two main characters. One is a conflicted young hero named Aleksi and the other is a young female heroine named Saiya. Most importantly, Saiya is not only powerful in her community, but also a very influential leader..."

If you like what you read, please pre-order RUNE and share with your friend, family, and co-workers (if you have not done so already!)

As I said above, we just hit the 25% mark, so next in our sights is 50%! Please spread the word and keep this great momentum going!

With deep appreciation,
Jamison Stone

Thanks for clearing that up. I admire your commitment to the causes you listed. I'm sorry some people flamed you, but I can understand how that happened -- there's just too much to read. It's not just your stuff, with half an hour of book AFTER an extensive "About" section, AND a blog, (beautiful maps, btw!), but the sum total of pitches, postings, and updates is damn near overwhelming.

People put up chapter after chapter as if they don't understand the concept of "excerpt" or they think their first submission isn't strong enough to merit pre-ordering. Sometimes they're right, but in that case, more really is less. And you know what I've noticed? Comments on those multiple chapter "excerpts" tend to peter out early in the second chapter. What does that say?

Right now I have 29 tabs open waiting for me to read and comment. Every day I receive pitches requesting reviews. You'd think with all the authors who apparently are aware of me, I'd be more visible. smh

So thanks again for getting back to me personally, Jamison. Best of luck with Rune of the Apprentice. (Comments to follow on the excerpt itself. :) )

Hey Romero! Great questions!

First off, I want to give you a huge "Thank you" for asking. I have already had a few people flame me without reading my blog (or even my project page here) and then apologize profusely after getting the full details. Instead, you asked me directly so you could get clarification--thanks, man!

So, when I first decided to donate the pre-order profits I wrote about it on my blog in great detail (which you can find here) and included this:

"For Rune of the Apprentice to be printed it must meet its pre-order threshold off 1000 copies. Sadly, for those first 1000 copies there is no profit made for either the publisher or the author. BUT to show my support for Hope For The WarriorsNational Military Family Association,Our Military Kids, and Military Spouse Advocacy Network, I am going to make my own individual donation (grant) which will well exceed those first 1000 copies, despite there being no book profit."

This same thing can be found directly above under RUNE's headline of "Why should I pre-order?" For the full info I'd suggest checking out my original blog posting (which I will quick link for you HERE.) If you have any more questions about that after reading the posting, please ask, and I'd be happy to answer!

Regarding your second question: Inkshares has a few options about e-books and printed books and how they relate to the funding threshold. I have chosen for RUNE to only be funded if we meet the threshold required for a physical printed book (hence the radio interview reference to printed books.) So, a backer who pledges now will have the option of getting an e-book OR printed book once the threshold (1000) is met.

I hope I have answered your questions! If you still would like some clarification, PLEASE ask. I am trying to do my best so there is no miscommunication!

Thanks again for the good questions!
Jamison

P.S. I'd love to hear your thoughts on RUNE's Prologue! Check it out HERE and please comment and let me know what you think!

Hey, Jamison, I listened to your interview. Very cool! I have a question. You say the profits from these pre-orders will go to military families, but I thought the funds go to Inkshares to publish, market, promote, and distribute your book. There aren't any profits till more than 1,000 are sold.. I also understood only ebooks will be available until sales surpass 750. The people who pre-order right now see a message that this book is currently only an ebook unless the 1,000 goal is met. Where did the information you gave out on the radio come from?
