Canada is living up to its True, Arctic North this winter season. Below freezing (think -30) where your nostrils freeze over from the walk from the parking lot to work, freezing rain that turns roads into a skating rink, wearing layers. the house taking hours to heat to a comfortable 23 degrees. Add to that the deadly flu season....you know
I haven’t gotten to write as much as I would like to. But now at the end of the month, I am trying to get back on track. I am currently working on a 1200 word limit short story to submit the ’Chicken Soup for the Soul’ compilation- the submission topic being "Things that my Mother Taught Me." Oh boy, she has taught me a great many things.
I also plan to get more busy at Inkshares as well.
Thank You to those who follow me so far & please leave suggestions for edits & comments on the work that I have posted so far.
After a restful holiday and a hectic 2 weeks of work back (I work as a student counsellor/advisor), I am jumping right back in to writing!
I’m already feeling nostalgic for Christmas. We had a giant white tree that is now a few years old. We changed the decor on it to a blue and gold this year- figured the traditional red could use a change.
Now back to writing. My goals for this year is many-fold:
- Continue improving upon my work by writing, reading exemplary and crappy works of literature.
- Learn more about the publishing industry through a variety of means
- Submit my short stories to literary magazines and competitions, in order to gain writing credits and further credibility as a beginner author.
- Network with other writers & industry professionals. I am part of a local chapter of an authors association & now I need to make it the meetings!
- Find new avenues to publish Zombie Catz or my other adult literary fiction manuscript.
Will I meet all my writing goals for 2018? I cannot say, only that a writing career is a marathon, not a sprint. It will take many years of writing, hard work, trying different strategies and succeeding or failing in them.
Happy Writing to everyone for 2018! Thank You for following me
Can’t wait for you to read and comment on my work. Please suggest some edits if you feel it is necessary, especially for the final chapter, Chapter 10.
I will be posting updates on my writing, as I also write short stories (more in dramatic fiction category) that go in literary journals and which I enter in prose competitions.
Zombie Catz is a story that I wrote 2 years ago when I was home on mat leave & had it edited via Scribophile- which is an online critique group. This was my first attempt at writing stories for children.
It sprung from an idea that came to me one night after watching Walking Dead (back when it was still a fun & gory show) while petting my fat cat sleeping quietly beside me.
Leaving you guys with a fat cat meme. I find cat memes to be hilarious!
Of course my new fav creatures are Porgs from ’The Last Jedi’- which I will go watch next week!
