Meet Katherine:

"I can’t see all the pieces, but the murderer is King. And all I have to do, is to take him down. Checkmate."

Amidst a stack of paper plastered onto the wall, she leaned against the interviewing door and rolled the piece curiously in her hand.

“Similar to a chess piece. It’s either legal or illegal, right or wrong...” Her green eyes flashed in the passing light as she examined the white king in her fingertips.

“…Black or white.”

Meet Cole:

A flash of ash brown hair, a bloodied girl and the dull thud of the body falling in the rain... each leaving his memory one by one. You weren’t there...

Cole stared indifferently at the plain, white table in front of him. ... Now believe it.

The door to the interviewing room swung open and for the first time, as Cole looked up, sharp piercing blue eyes meets flashing green.

"I’m Katherine."

A childhood voice* echoes through his mind as he leaned forward, projecting every case of remorse he possibly could for a dead friend.

A video camera recording to his left, and two-way mirror to his right.

*"Let’s play."
