*** The Wicked Boys have spent the last five years cementing their reputation as the most effective swords for hire in the Imperial Crescent and beyond. They are also the most ruthless. Few survive an encounter with the infamous mercenaries and no one who does is quite the same.
But success has its own costs and infamy means that even friends cannot be trusted. A chance meeting in a dead god’s temple may lead them to more than another dangerous job; it could force them to confront their collected pasts. Redemption is not an option for these black souls, but caught in the most dangerous of games each will find that the whisper of valor may be their key to survival. ***
So, why Wicked Boys?
I have always been interested in characters who live in a different ethical and moral paradigm than we do. Our modern world feels very cut and dried, although it rarely is but there exists a certain baseline of expected behaviors. There was a time however, where our decisions were less open to scrutiny and thus open to a wider range of behaviors. This can be good and bad, but there is an appeal for the writer to construct stories in worlds in that morally grey arena. Wicked Boys is a story that exists in between not only moral and ethical extremes but suggest that not everyone is who they seem to be. Gender, the past, and the decisions heroes make are just some of the bricks that make up the whole of Wicked Boys.
