This is book 2 of the Dragon Order series (I couldn’t quite fit the whole title in while trying to set up the draft). The book continues after the events in book 1 Soulblade.

The book does (several times) jump back and forth between several months following certain characters.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Tari has spent the last few months training at the Veserie (a school for mages) and soon becomes caught in-between an old dispute between the Veserie and a group known as The Phaserunners. They attack the Veserie and Tari is forced to protect them, but the attack accelerates things and she learns that someone who was very close to her, who had disappeared 5 years previously, is rumoured to still be alive and his body is being used as a vessal. She soon undertakes the very journey her visions have shown her after discovering her true parentage.

Tari starts to understand the very power of Phase magic and its darker side, Source magic, and she investigates the sudden disappearances of a small village of magisters on the island of Envahall but is suddenly attacked by the very person she was ordered to kill. And using her new found mental abilities, Tari manages to communicate with her friends to learn of the truth and in so doing has alerted her presence to her former captors.

Kivian sets out to clear his name from the assumed murder of a duke and Tasbi searches Mistdeep’s undergrounds in the hopes of uncovering some clues as to the reason for Tari’s abduction.
