Hey Everybody. Void and Null is the result of two years of research into cutting edge technological developments. It is the result of watching countless hours of conference talks to get a pulse for the direction we are heading technologically and I attempt to push this trajectory forward by about a century or so.

The biggest theme in Void and Null is the idea of limits. Technological and Financial. In Sci-Fi, it’s generally assumed that we will keep progressing forever, arriving at a type of space faring super race where technology can do almost anything. But is this a valid assumption? Can we really keep extracting more and more out of our inventions and discoveries forever?

Modern day physics hasn’t had a major development in several decades. Moore’s law, that states computers will double in speed every two years has, petered to a crawl. Space travel, in spite of all of our predictions has stayed consistently expensive. As nano-scale manufacturing comes to fruition, how will we continue to innovate new materials if we’re already engineering on the atomic scale?

It was this core idea that I used as the foundation for the whole world.

The story revolves around a boy named Victor. Victor is a lab-bastard, meaning his mother purchased sperm with preferable genetics on the market. His genetic father is Si Truman, a notorious Trillionaire CEO with thousands of other children.

Victor makes a living harvesting references to cryptocurrency from forgotten server banks, barely making enough to keep his family afloat. Until one day when he is accepted to go to University, which in his day and age, is unheard of.

What ensues is a crazy sci-fi trip of wild things, all based in modern day technological developments. The world has technological cults that join together in hive minds, and mega corporations that act, in essence, as government heads. Two thirds of the worlds population live out most of their lives in simulation chambers in one of the many virtual worlds. Human’s rights activists fight for the rights of life-like NPCs. And all the while, a massive AI is growing in power and influence, working behind the scenes like a digital puppeteer.

I currently have about 40,000 words of the story written and about twice that in notes. I wanted to share a bit about the world with you all, and I hope you enjoy this rough first chapter.

Thanks for stopping by.
