Off the Grid is a memoir novella. In September 2014 a friend challenged me to live off the grid, to adapt to my physical disabilities without using any Internet at all for one month. This journal, which is 35,142 words, is my day to day account of living life as a disabled man without the Internet. It showcases how I was able to obtain information without using Email and or logging onto a website. It holds commentaries and observations about various aspects, such as attention span, memory consumption, giving constructive feedback, and the lack of disability news in mainstream media. It also features hilarious happenings that I have never had to partake in before, such as hooking up a landline phone, sending a fax as someone who is blind, using a payphone, and it contains explanations of why the Internet should be classified as a utility to preserve our independence and gives journalistic examples from articles and news events.
