A wallowing and unfortunate, alley-bred mutt named Lucky, and an arrogant, prize bulldog, named Bonzo, become neighbors. The pampered bulldog is not impressed by, and neither does it offer sympathy to, the starving mongrel. So while the mongrel daily dwells upon and bemoans his sorry lot, the bulldog boasts about his advantages and never stops talking about his superior pedigree. All pleas by the mongrel to be rescued from poverty are scoffed upon by the haughty bulldog. But by chance encounter with a wealthy man, they are brought face-to-face with the reality that they are merely two dogs—a suggestion which thoroughly irks the bulldog. While the bulldog is simply unwilling to accept this distasteful revelation, neither does it improve the mongrel’s perspective of the future, as he continues to see nothing ahead but gloom and doom. Through a newshound, however, the two soon discover that they have been living in a protected estate and that beyond the walls, terrible political turmoil is unfolding. The sudden death of their masters bring both to terms with a certain, bleak future. But, while constant hardship has prepared the mongrel well for such a situation, the prized and pampered purebred must contemplate the future with an unaccustomed fear. Two Dogs is a literary fiction book, and a satire about human relationships.

With your Money

While this book was developed from a performed play which I had previously written, a little bit more work needs done to polish up the characters. Some of the money raised will enable a short retreat to do this, with the remainder for editorial, design, and production.
