My name is Caitie Lee Young, C. L. Young, and I am 17 years young. This book is a really important piece of my life. I started writing as soon as I could pick up a pencil and could make letters into words on paper. I started writing this book in the simplest of places; science class, hence the name Truth Behind The Chemistry. It started out as all books do, and I honestly didn’t think I would ever get anyone to read it until I lost the handwritten copy while at a water park. Thankfully, I had an amazing social studies teacher who lived close to the park and was able to mail me the copy. She is one of the reasons why I kept writing in it. After that, I had my friends read it and they only inspired me to continue. I now have two books that follow this one, plus I am working on a prequel, so you can see how much I am attached to this story. I am so very confident that you will grow to love it as much as I do.

This book is about the struggle of being lied to, being betrayed, and getting through hard times. It is about friendship, love, commitment, and staying true to yourself. In writing this novel, Jamie Lewis, the main character, became a parallel of who I am and who I aspire to be, and I am confident that no matter who you are, you will see images of yourself in her. This novel is for the people with a forte for being broken.

This book is my dream. It doesn’t look like much, that’s for sure, but does that really even matter? We’ve all had those dreams that seem like nothing at first, and this one is mine. I never thought it would grow any larger than 50 handwritten pages, but because of the support of my friends and family, it has.

If you have ever been lied to, cheated on, disrespected or emotionally unstable; this work of fiction was written by me for you. If you have ever felt used, or if you have ever loved someone, then I wrote this book for you; if you have ever tried hard, pushed yourself past your breaking point, scraped your knee and got back up again; then I wrote this book for you.
