What is Traitor to the King?
When the giant eye Nabuto created Organthra it created the hidden caves where life was first thought to have stepped out. Amongst the enigmatic First Ones, young gods, creatures and peoples to step out none were more dangerous then the Dark Ones, gods that would fall and their demonic creatures. Of all the races to battle these beings pouring out of the Orcreich, only the Deep Elves of Virenheim in the north of the Giroff Mountains have any major victories.
Said to have remained underground to fight the demons at their source, the Viren Elves are born with magic abilities unique to any elf race as well as the protection their one god, Nabuto. Legends claim twelve sacred stones were gifted to the ancestors to protect their kingdom from attack but battles with demons, traitors and the terrifying First Ones have reduced the stones to two and the kingdom is weakening. With their King starting to be questioned for the believes he enforces and the frequency of attacks, everything hinges on hopes that the greatest warriors of the land will be ready for the next corrupted First One to attack their land.
The greatest of these warriors is practically the next in line for the throne, the Benaga Household titled "Klangschwert" by their enemies. Recent wars have reduced this entire household to just two female inheritors, which is abnormal and unwelcome in Virenheim tradition. Worse still, the eldest carrying the title of Lord Benaga, is known to believe in something other then the Nabuto mythology and there are worse rumors about her. The younger sister though is beloved by everyone, making her a perfect target for overly ambitious nobles... but she’s far from fragile and thanks to her the naturally xenophobic and restrictive society have had to open their secrets to a foreigner believed to have come from the Orcreich.
But with this change to the nature of their lives, Virenheim’s dusty old foundations will be shaken when a powerful traitor is revealed along with more hideous cover-ups and secrets!
Who am I?
My name is Clare Keating, I have been writing stories of various kinds since I was seven and have self-published a few romance tales and one dragon story. I have a fan base for my dragon comics on Deviantart and for my romantic fan-fictions I write as practice there.Traitor to the King came from a secondary universe from my dragon one that I invented during a time of severe depression to help me cope. It’s unusual mythology regarding the Great Eye came from a paranoid moment in my life and was broken down into something all the more intriguing. Intending to be the first of a series, Traitor to the King takes place from the point of view of the two Benaga sisters and highlights the different manner in which they see their culture, positive and negative and the effects of a stranger in their midst whose own views will skew their thoughts on everything.
