Nerina Arthur enters into the Physical Holographic Environmental Virtual Reality System (PHEVRS) and logs into The Xarnia Galaxy game, for the first time. She sets up her character and arrives in the game as a female Gnomairaen Magilain, born and raised on the Gnomairaen’s home planet Nahimana. When she has the basics of the game down she goes in search for Orzora, the leader of the guild Mythical, where her mother Ariella is a member. But when she arrives at the guild hall gates, an attack on the guild by a rival guild, is already going on.
While she fights for the guild she has yet joined, she meets three guild members: Ryker a Laelopean Orionair, Aziel a Phoenixean Palidor, and Larissa a Harpyian Angeni. The four work together to help drive the intruders away. When the last of the rival guild leaves Nerina talks with Orzora and starts her adventure as member of the Mythical guild.
PHEVRS is essentially a computer room you walk in wearing an Immersion Gaming (IG) suit, it then lifts the player using air pressure to keep them from running into walls or hitting the ceiling while they are in the game. The computer system is located in the walls and talks to the IG suit.
The IG suit is comprised of a light weight full body suit, gloves, shoes, and headpiece that is designed to fit the person’s body. The IG suit monitor’s the player’s vitals, blood pressure, hydration, as well as monitoring when the player is attacked, sending pulses to mimic how the attack would feel in reality without causing real harm to the player. The headpiece displays the game information such as hit points (HP), mana, inventory, and notes for the player to keep track of.
The Xarnia Galaxy game is an adventure, action, fantasy, science fiction, multiplayer, survival game which features player verse environment (PVE) and player verse player (PVP) options that can be activated at anytime in the game. It also has guild halls, housing, professions with lessons if one desires to learn them, outer space adventures and planets to explore.
Gnomairaen - a generally short race of beings that look child like with their youthful faces and big eyes. Their ears have a flutterby wing shape with the top being more pointed then round. Gnomairaen’s have tails that vary in sizes and tips. Their skin tones range from to iridescent pink to lavender purple to ocean blue to bistre black.
Magilian - a spell caster. Their magic abilities are natural and can be harnessed or left wild and unpredictable.
Laelopean - a race that shape-shifts into different canines. Their original form varies in heights and sizes, their ears are more canine then humanoid, and their hands are more paw like then humanoid. Their tail is natural and as such does not disappear when they change. The skin tone match their fur coats.
Orionair - a hunter. Their tracking ability uses the elements to find and subdue their target.
Phoenixean - a race that has a set of wings on their backs and gift or curse of reincarnation: from flames to ashes. They have tails that are like a bird’s have and their ears have a tear drop shape. They are not covered in feathers, only their wings and tails have feathers, nor do they have a beak. Their skin tones range from crimson red to golden yellow to tiger orange to midnight blue.
Palidor - a paladin. They are knights or soldiers that are virtuous and chivalrous. Their power and strength comes from God.
Harpyian - a race that has legs and arms that are covered in feathers while their torso and head are not. They have hair on their heads, a humanoid face, a feathered tail, talons on their feet, and wings along their arms. Their clothes are strapless and are slitted along the side because of their winged arms. Their feather and skin tones are different from each other but are complementary colors.
Angeni - a spirit angel. They are healers that were once on the brink of death but were divinely healed and granted abilities that help fight or heal the undead.
My name is Samantha. I play video games, bead necklaces, read, draw, and write stories. I live in the country surrounded by nature. I am a shy, awkward, optimistic, self-conscious person that loves to make people smile. I have one dog Pongo and six cats Fluffy, Shadow, Topaz, Mystic, Patamon, and Kazuki.
The idea for this book started with the nerdist contest, and what kind of game I would want to play. Since it could be based in anytime period and any genre, there was no restrictions for the game. I wanted to write about a game I would love to play and the way I would want to play it. Star Trek’s holodeck inspired the PHEVRS and IG suit in the way that what you see, seems to be right in front of you and because of the IG suit gloves you can touch, feel and interact with the world of the game you play within the PHEVRS. The video game itself is a mix of what I love to play and what I wish some games had. Fairy Tale, World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) they are a few of the inspirations for this book.
