The Warden exists, as many things do, in the form of a notion. I shy away from even referring to it as an idea as this implies a certain clarity.

The notion of this Warden tugs at me whenever I’m hiking in the mountains. I step outside and there is a fictional presence striding along side me. Be him a guide or friend he seems to accompany me on hikes through woods and especially near lakes and cliffs.

I imagine all of the creatures in his care. Like me this Warden has an affinity for bears and Cervidae (deer and other antlered mammals) and he strives to keep them safe from the world outside this valley of his. I imagine him as estranged, from both his people and homeland. I imagine him as a creator: a smith and carpenter of great renown; one who wishes to make and in doing so see the world grow more beautiful. I imagine he enjoys his garden and fermenting its fruits into mead and drying tobacco to smoke out of a hand carved pipe. I imagine he has a secret, one that haunts him and drove him to build a north facing house on a cliff with a view stretching into the sky. A sky, I imagine the villagers in the town nearby saying, that reminds him of his past.

I imagine him as close to a person as I can. A person who has run away and started anew.

I also happen to imagine him as a giant. Like a twelve foot tall hominid with a really big beard that’s he’s quite inwardly proud of. I also think he loves a good board game. He invents most of them and is therefore the best at them. So he’s a little proud sometimes but I don’t hold that against him.

I imagine this giants name is Oögnir (OH – g –nir). Or Og to those with whom he drinks.

So this notion of mine may seem to be rendered for me in terms of his character; therefore resembling an idea closely. But it all becomes significantly more nebulous when I think about a single hero narrative plot that would turn a publishers head.

This is, in part, why I have decided to take to Inkshares to belch my notions into the ether so that I might remain accountable to my ideas and try harder to mold them.

Thank you if you’ve somehow found this page and read this blurb; and please if you have a moment wish me luck in my crafting this character and his story: that always helps one find a foothold for their story to begin.

- Best wishes from myself and a wish of luck in equal share to those aspiring authors out there who may also need it for their various and sundry projects
