Chapters:

Birth of Darkness

Prologue

War. The thing that has lasted for untold centuries not only derides us. But consumes and engulfs all those that it touches. A hearth that is not only a home, but a protection.

A guidance for one’s life, and when such a thing is torn away by war; by horrible atrocities we know the true evil that guides men.

I led my men through the Mirror. Expecting nothing more than just a slight look into an upside world. A mirrored copy of our own was the thought. That on the other side of the portal was a world just like ours. Full of life, green grass and beauty.

What we found instead was a hell that I’ve never experienced before in my life. I not only exposed myself to its influence once, but multiple times. Journeying and bringing others of our kind to their world.

On the first journey where it was just young men on an adventure, save for Abra’am who was son to Lord Abra’is Valentine. My brother. Lord of Agincourte.

Abra’am wanted to make a name for himself, to go through and find the secret to darkness in life. However, what we found was not peace, nor serenity. It is now what we call, ’The Realm of Insanity’. The realm of something unnatural. A break down of reality to a degree infinitesimal, and yet so broad in its strokes that you could feel its impact on everything.

I saw the changes in Abra’am the day we entered. Pushing it off as vague uncertain paranoia, or understandable austerity.

It made no difference. We all saw it. The things that crawled from out and underneath our skin, breaking out like a larvae inside its host, as if something had laid eggs underneath our flesh, and not just our arms, our faces as well were seized by the large pockets of eggs that would burrow beneath the flesh.

It is my understanding now that is one of many ways that the Kre’vator’ai became so widespread, because of us, because we spread them.

I cannot explain it in words, but I must. I watched the eggs fester underneath the pockets of flesh, creating honeycomb like pockets in our skin where the eggs would grow and fester until they would crawl out while the host slept.

We learned the hard way, and we learned the violent way that there is only so much that men of flesh can take. It wasn’t fear that gripped me. Yes I felt the pain underneath my skin as the creatures sucked away at my life force to grow and fester. It was more of a trying to understand, to figure out what was happening and why.

My efforts were useless.

Abra’am began to claw at his face in a violence that I have never seen in a man. I watched my brother turn his face into a jelly like mesh to rip the eggs away, to get them out, far away. He bled yes. The flesh had to be cut away and the remaining remnants cauterized by glowing blades. However, this did not succeed in stopping the eggs spread. They festered again, but this time in with the facial muscles finding a home there.

This realm that we had entered, was not just of Insanity, no—it was far worse than that. I could handle watching my children’s faces melting off as if acid had been dumped onto them, these being hallucinations.

However—I cannot live with what I did, but as this being my personal journal for my own eyes to see, and for La-Vu to catalog after my death. I see no reason but to be completely straight forward with this Nano who I shall designate as KEVA/109.

’Recipient and owner of this armor, Setain Valentine.’
