The Vandersnatch is a dark fantasy horror set near the fictional medieval town of Tiddlebree hollow.

The village is being terrorised by a fearsome monster that lurks in the darkwood and has a taste for people. In an effort to rid the town of the monster Duke Reteon the wise (and lazy) has decided to grant the title of Lord to any adventurer, be they a union member or not, who can bring him the head of the beast.

The offer is a rare one. The idea of being made a lord is enough to lure every adventurer from far and wide to the tiny town. Each night the prospective monster hunters venture forth to try and track down the monster but each night the achieve little more then feeding it.

Until a villager with nothing left to loose makes a deal with a dark cost.

The Vandersnatch is a fantasy story set in a world of sorcery and bureaucracy which endeavours to mix sinister horror with twisted humour. The inspiration for it came from a love of Gothic stories and horror novels as well as a short poem I wrote for another story. In terms of the way it’s written I’m aiming for a balance of silliness with a sinister tone lying under the surface.
