What would you do if the lifespan you had taken for normal was actually a lie?

Any feedback on the plot/concept and how you feel about reading on after his opening chapter would be much appreciated!

Kiri has just turned sixteen and has two years to live. What’s worse so do all her friends. When they reach their eighteenth birthday the inhabitants of Kiri’s city must each face the unwinding, the final stage of a natural human lifespan.

For most, the idea of living into their twenties or beyond is pure fantasy but Kiri has always harboured doubts. In her world everything is provided for by machines and there is no reason to doubt the perfect order but Kiri is not happy. When she becomes involved with her older neighbour Mark they embark on a journey that promises to uncover the true nature of life.
