By 2200, most of the earth’s land had become uninhabitable in the wake of rising temperatures and sea levels, unprecedented natural disasters, and nuclear warfare.

By 2500, humanity had artificially evolved a new race via genetic engineering. The purpose of this new breed of humans was simple: survive first, then thrive.

Over the centuries, the homo sapiens superiorii conquered the world. Meanwhile, their predecessors, homo sapiens sapiens, continued to eek out a living in smaller and smaller communities, fighting over food, water, and oxygen.

The worlds of the two races rarely clashed. That is, until Freya, a young superiorus police officer, uncovers a mass grave of nearly 30 "primitive" human bodies in the superiorii territory.

Pressured into dropping her official investigation, Freya decides to take matters into her own hands and go exploring on her own.

Then, one day, without warning, Freya falls ill. The next thing she knows, a dozen people in masks and full body suits drag her out to a secret below-ground quarantine area known as "The Underneath."

In a fight for her life, Freya must come to grips with truths long since buried -- revelations that could bring the world to the brink of one more devastating world war.
