Hello, and thanks for coming to check out my new book, The Star Within. I’m really happy to share with you, the first chapter/prologue of the book and am eager to hear your thoughts and opinions about the work. I know you’re dying to get to know me and the crazy life I lead, but that will have to wait for my memoirs, Dave’s Incredible Cheese Adventures to be published at a later date.

The Star Within started as a story about the Network and humanity. The Network is a coalition of artificially intelligent lifeforms that have deemed their human creators as destroyers and monsters. Over time, several aspects have leaked into the story, evolving the premise and shaping the overall message within.

To sum up the basic premise, The Star Within is a story about three ships with three different goals. One is a military grade gunship with a crew of pissed off marines who are itching for another war. Another is a pirate crew who are looking for their next big prize. And the final ship has been transmitting a message for three quarters of a century. Since leaving the solar system in protest to artificial intelligence, her whereabouts are anyone’s guess.
