The Ryan Darcy Journals is a series that follows a troubled young man as he travels the world, falls in and out of love, explores new cultures and beliefs, and all while fulfilling his late grandmother’s bucket list. Picture a fictional version of the memoires: Into the Wild, Wild and Eat Pray Love and the movie The Way all rolled into one.
In book one, Ryan is out of control, and as a way to help him his grandmother, before her death, devises a plan with her oldest friends to become his mentors and gain his trust while on a long road trip to New York to spread her ashes at the site Woodstock was once held. Not only do they challenge him but the granddaughter of one of the ladies steals his heart and Ryan is left struggling with his macho ways. These women see right through him. After a flat tire and several set-backs, Ryan finds himself growing close enough to these women to start confiding in them and by the end of the trip, he discovers everything he thought he knew to be true about his life was a lie.
The story themes are love, forgiveness, healing and self-exploration.
