Chapter 1 Excerpt

“Whenever a disaster of any kind occurs, you hear the same old arguments.  Some blame terrorists.  Others blame secret government organizations.  Some blame the sin of man.  Many seem to blame the ignorance of man, at least as it pertains to pollution and global warming.  No matter who the majority of the world blamed, it didn’t change the fact that nearly 20 years after the mist first fell upon our blue planet, the population dropped to a fraction of what it once was.  For years the greatest minds this world had to offer tried desperately to understand where the mist came from.  Failure to do so may be a result of all these great minds unable to live long enough to reach a conclusion.  Or it could be that they simply wish, or perhaps must, ignore the truth.  A truth realized only by a few individuals who, rather than gawking at the mist, opened their eyes and observed.  The truth that man was not to blame.  It wasn’t pollution.  It wasn’t sin.  It was life.  Life from somewhere far away.  Life that decided to take it upon themselves to speed up our inevitable fate.  Visitors to our world that decided we were pests.  Pests that exist only for extermination.  They didn’t come to study us.  They didn’t come to conquer us.  They came to exterminate us.  This was the truth that the world feared.  Not because it meant that we weren’t alone, but because it meant that we were nothing more than roaches to be squashed.”
