Quick update: Things are going relatively smoothly. My dodgeball league recently started up so I have had to take a small break from writing, but things are still progressing nicely I think. I’ll post a rewritten/revised Chapter 1 soon, and then hopefully a rewritten/revised Chapter 2 shortly after. Within these two chapters, you get a good look at the world of The Reaping and what adventures and challenges await.
While I still have just a few of you amazing followers, I want to try out a new title. My project formerly known as "Crop Dusters" is now named The Reaping of Planet Earth. Crop Dusters was always a temporary title and while did represent a key idea in the book, never quite screamed out Sci-Fi for me. The new title hopes to not only convey that this is a Sci-Fi novel, but the vocabulary also lends to an overarching theme of the book that is revealed towards the end. The title also helps give the readers a sense of horror and creepiness that the writing hopefully also conveys.
As promised, I have posted the beginnings of Chapter 1. As of the time of this update the chapter is a rough draft and still could use some editing, but I wanted to get it out there to see if I’m headed in the right direction. I’ll edit and tweak what is posted this week as I finish up the chapter. I really hope you all enjoy the story I have to tell. Thank you for the support.
I thank you all, though there are only a few of you, for following my project. I am new to InkShares and new to writing on a public platform. Just having a few followers gives me more confidence about my writing than I ever had before.
Since I am in the very early stages of "Crop Dusters," I don’t have a lot on paper just yet. I have been going back and forth on first and third person POV for Chapter 1 this week and I am finally settling down in first person, the POV I am most familiar writing in. I want readers to feel as if they are embarking on this journey themselves.
Now, as far the book itself, I hope to have the Prologue finished and a good chuck, if not all of Chapter 1 posted this weekend. The Prologue that is posted now has been rewritten for the better, I think. I welcome any and all feedback.
Again, thank you all for the support. I can’t wait to share my story.
