The Ka-reh-kai

The sun didn’t rise that day. That was the first sign that Ka-reh-kai was upon them. Centuries had passed since the last ceremony and the land of Retascha had prepared each detail to perfection. A collection of potential champions had collected at the capital city, Akani, and for the last ten years they had been training with one single goal in mind: to be the Enai, the Champion of Ka.

Setuka was one such potential, and a favorite at that: blond hair, striking gray eyes, and a passion for blood. A warrior princess of Kalimore, one of the nation-states of Retascha. She had countless victories against the orcs that plagued Kalimore’s western border from the wastelands of Xull. It was rumored that she kept jars of orc ears in her wardrobe to remind her of her bloody achievements.

Setuka’s main competition was Yasca, a shaman from the north. Hailing from the mysterious nation of Tetso-col, Yasca was a healer and a good one at that. He was the sole reason that King Zehkai’s only son and heir survived the dreaded Nevrisis disease: a crippling disease that usually led to brain damage and death.
