I’d have Elias introduce himself, but if he isn’t in trouble with the law, scrambling to find his next meal, or finding a dark and quiet patch of woods to lie his head for the night...the inability to speak would be a pretty big hindrance, as well. At 13 years old, Elias has survived on the streets for 6 years now. His mother abandoned him at the age of 7, and he is a mute.
I’d have Mother Nature introduce herself, as well...But she’s broken, scared, and doesn’t want too much to do with humans. It is our fault, after all, that she has become sick, and is dying a slow and painful death.
The Dark One requires no introduction, as he is already everywhere. Everything that nobody likes about the world is his fault, and we don’t even have his attention yet.
Introduce...The Missing Song.
Elias comes to find that he has always had the ability to communicate...just not exactly in the way that most people do. He has always had the supernatural power of communicating through music, the power just needed to be awoken. Elias is the first Talker to walk the world in quite some time -- He doesn’t speak to the ears; he speaks directly to the consciousness. The funny thing about being a Talker is that it scares The Dark One pretty badly, and nobody wants to scare The Dark One.
Elias is a Talker, and his ability allows him to communicate with the frail, sick, and dying Mother Nature. In a final attempt to save her child, Mother Nature tasks Elias and company with finding The Missing Song. Should Elias succeed, humankind will be reminded of it’s purpose, balance in the world will be restored, and The Dark One will be banished for good.

The Dark One knows that his time is limited, unless he takes action. He’s on his way to personally deal with Mother Nature, Elias, and the world in general. Our planet is crumbling, humankind is on the brink of destruction, and Mother Nature is already almost on her death bed. The moment that The Dark One arrives, all hope is lost. Mother Nature, nor her child, have the strength to fight back. The closer The Dark One gets, the closer to total annihilation we approach.

There’s just one little thing about The Missing Song: It’s our planet’s best-hidden treasure, and will only reveal itself to those who already know it. WHAT? How do you find something that can’t be found unless it’s already found!?

Times are dire, and Mother Nature doesn’t have time to play by the rules. She gives Elias and his friends a head start, but even that may not be enough, because her "head start" is as follows:

My name is Robert Park, and until recently, my life has been a series of fleeting attempts to find purpose. The result of such an experience gave me enough insight to write this book, and I hope to empower just one person with the understanding that purpose is created; it isn’t found.
I’ve always been a problem solver by nature, due to what many have described as a very unique mind. Problems are never catastrophic, once you know how to deal with them. You won’t know how to deal with them until you know the very nature of how problems occur in the first place. You can’t understand the nature of how problems occur until you’ve been exposed to the varying types that exist in the world.
In The Missing Song, I hope to provide such an exposure to our youth generation; perhaps we can open their eyes to the concept that knowledge AND understanding mixed is where true power lies.
The money raised from this campaign will provide the bare essentials required to develop The Missing Song. Because Elias and company spend a large chunk of time in rural America, the funds raised will allow me to travel their path; experiencing the human condition, and researching the damage caused to our planet. This will allow the creating of an accurate and powerful message.
