The Pickled Memory of Captain Silas E. Parks now on sale at most outlets and I even surprise myself at how well it is doing. Try Amazon or even my own website for a copy but not 'Inkshares' as that one fell flat on its face.
So, what's next?
As I sit in this 'lull' I muse - more Silas, the sequel to Fall of the Suns, the Diary of Ben Small or step out and try something totally abstract - perhaps something without water in it? What fun.

YES YES YES - I have now released Silas to the world. The pickled old codger is now available, first in PDF and then shortly, very shortly in all other manner of ebook and print at AMAZON, et al.
I am happy. I have been with Silas (or he has been with me) for nearly eight years and the old drunk sod has become part of my life. But I need to move on, to other projects, and as for Silas, well, I guess he will continue to prop up the bar with his tall tales to an audience of captivated but dubious listeners.
Yes, Silas the drunk Captain is now a novel and out at last at http://www.ieuandolby.com
I hope future readers enjoy the book as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Long live Captain Silas!
Well, this is a right old Pickle for dear Silas - anyway, not to worry, the Book, The Pickled Memory of Captain Silas E Parks, is now to be published, first at ieuandolby.com and then a day or so afterwards at Creatspace, Kindle et al.
It has certainly been an adventure getting here. The full book has taken nearly eight years to create and now, with 23 tales, input from Silas' wife (god bless her cotton socks), and a word from a chief Engineer who unfortunately had to sail with him more than once, the book has developed into excellent shape.
The book will be published on the 25th August in all its glory!
Some rearrangement and enlargement as the excitement of Silas E Parks takes shape. The current line-up of chapters follows with the addition of an introduction by Joe Larkin, a chief engineer who unfortunately had to sail with Silas more than once.
1. Introduction by Joe Larkin 2. Silas - The Incredible Fart 3. Silas - The Pirates and a Barbeque 4. Silas - A Dry Ship 5. The Management 6. Silas - Ships that go Bump in the Night 7. Silas - In Batam 8. Betty Parks has her say 9. Silas - In Papua New Guinea 10. Silas - The Australian Royal Navy Outrage 11. Silas - (rundown of his, erm, career) 12. Silas - The Old Tin Can 13. Silas - The Christmas Speech 14. Betty Parks bumps into Silas 15. Silas - An Angry Cook 16. Silas - And the Rough Weather 17. Silas - and the Football Pool Winnings 18. The Cook has his say 19. Silas - Silas and the Pirates 20. Silas - The Football Pools 21. Silas - Bears and Gun 22. The Barman says his piece
A few more might be squeezed in closer to the date of publication.
I'm not happy with the cover of Silas E Parks. The original photograph has been lost and this version is not big enough (pixels-wise).
If anybody would like to see their own artwork on the cover then please do dip-in. I am really looking for a photograph, of an old seafarer. Perhaps with a white beard - the image of an oldish fisherman or sailor - woolly jumper or uniform - in a bar would be perfect - or on a ship perhaps.
Please do get in touch with me if you have such a photograph and if you can help to let it grace the front cover of this work. Thanks indeed.
Silas was married to 'Betty' who, or so the rumour goes, left him for a sober version of himself. The book includes input from dear Betty, the time she sailed with him and also a few words from Joe Larkin, a chief engineer who unfortunately had to sail with Silas more than once.
Some tales of Silas are viewable at my website of ieuandolby.com - welcome to visit and read as a taster to a book of his adventures that run them all together into a mad canter through his troubled drink-laden career at sea.
