I am a writer by night and your average person by day. Here’s a synopsis of my story.

Imagine a world where there is information not at people’s fingertips but directly in their brain. There is no need for books and writing because everyone had a chip implanted in their brain that allows them to access information when they want it. At sixteen the children of Martake are required to select an apprenticeship that will determine their careers or they risk joining the ranks of the Unwanted, people from Martake who have not selected an career and do the lowly jobs.

For Amaria her seventeenth birthday is approaching and she hasn’t selected an apprenticeship yet. She feels out of place and alone in a world where people do as they’re told. Amaria is faced with being forced to choose an apprenticeship that she doesn’t want and finds herself wandering in the Unwanted territory. There she meets a man with an interesting proposition. Amaria takes a risk and takes the man up on his offer and starts on an adventure that she must keep a secret from everyone she cares about. Before long she is drawn into a world she didn’t know existed, a world of books and written language. But there is more to the well oiled machine that is Martake and what Amaria finds will change everything.
