New update!

On the first day, the chapter 2 chapter 1 inversion has been fixed! Now those interested in readying The Invisible Race can now do so in the manner intended. Thanks to the IT staff at Inkshares!

Today is one, Should I start this log as "Stardate 2723.9"? Just kidding. Wrong type of story.

Well to start with I would like to point out to everyone that an error occurred when I uploaded my story. Chapter 2 is the first chapter instead of number 1. That one is presently in the number two slot awaiting the person who is in charge of the website to rearrange the order to the correct the positioning. If you are reading this two months from now and it is fixed disregard this notification.

I’m very excited to start the pre-order process. What’s unfortunate is that I had the entire story already written and in editing mode when I was turned on to the Inkshares site.  So no draft updates will grace my update page. I will, however, try to give proper updates as to where the process is as often as I can. I am saddened to say that the cover art has not been planned just yet. That will coming soon.

I want to warn everyone who is thinking about reading my manuscript to be prepared to not be able to put it down after the half way mark. It is a race after all and I wrote it to be fast paced. So plan your time accordingly. The reason it took so long to edit is because when you get caught up in a story while you’re writing, the words don’t come out as intended. I had a lot to fix. There should be no fears thought, it flows nicely now.

Enjoy and I hope you like it enough to pre-order a copy!

I originally told this story to my daughter many years ago. Over time I realized that it would be a really good novel if I added a few more  sub plots and better characterized the finish. What started a simple story blossomed into fantastic novel about greed, self accomplishment, lack of morals, and excitement so great I can’t stop reading it when I edit. And I know how it ends!

Not trying to build it up more than it might or might not be.  I did some research and found that there are not a whole lot of racing books that are novels. Most are based on real events that occurred in history or are current running feuds that exist in NASCAR or other racing formats.

To make this have a hook to draw in the reader, the race is a cross country kind that is designed to test new technology. It is an engineers race. The finish line sits atop a three foot high dais with a loop to pass through.  It’s not enough to make it across the country, the teams have to figure out how to get the car on the dais to win.

And to thin the crowd that might make it to California, a laser is given to each team. Their job is to design a way to have the laser hover over the special body that is made of epoxy. (Each car has the same body.) When the laser heats the epoxy for three seconds in the same spot the skin melts allowing the metal sheets inside to make contact causing the car to short out, thus disqualifying them from the race.

The race isn’t about finishing first, its about surviving, Surviving the fixed race, surviving the mobster hired to disqualify as many cars possible, and surviving each other. The MIT student that was chosen to be the weapons specialist, must put up with the chosen driver that has no racing experience.
