MY HEART POUNDED as I shot across the deserted gas station parking lot, attempting to flee from whatever thing that was hot on my trail. I could feel its intense, icy stare boring into me. Suddenly, I heard an almost imperceptible, “BOOM!” I whipped my body around to face where the noise had seemingly come from.
Strangely, there was a nest of dead rosebush thorns so thick that I could only barely perceive as what appeared to be a crumbling stone wall. I cautiously approached the wall. Gently, I rested my hand on the thorns, careful not to prick myself. The wind began to swirl angrily around my head, fiercely ripping and entangling my hair in the vines. The sky turned into night, the stars glittering like thousands of tiny fireflies. There were dozens of clouds blanketing the sky. Slowly, the sun dragged itself out from behind the clouds, after a long nap. This frightened me, since in my world, the sun was out during the day, not at night. That was the moon’s job. The creature that was trying to kill me, had somehow led me to a hidden entrance to an entirely different world.
