Scott Hardy, a young quantum physicist, theorizes that the phenomenon we call ghosts are actually manifestations of natural, unstable, openings of quantum wormholes to other universes. He puts together a team that creates a machine that generates stable openings to other universes. When he contacts the government for funding for his research they determine that it is too valuable and confiscate his project. Hardy is banned from performing any research on his project or even having contact with his former team.
Thirty years later Hardy is contacted by the government to help them solve a problem they are having. The government used Hardy’s project and sent people to another universe to do research and trade with the natives of the new universe. Now they’ve lost contact and their people are stranded on the other side. Hardy’s help is needed to re-establish contact. Not long after he arrives on the base Hardy is attacked and is in a coma. It now appears that there are spies on the base.
The people on the other side have their own problems. A new government is in place and resentful of the strangers in their land. The explorers have also discovered that the process that alters their quantum structure and allows them to stay in the new universe is flawed. The explorers face a duel threat of possible attack by the natives or possibly dying by being absorbed into the new universe on a quantum level.
Will the Project team be able to reconnect with the explorers or will they perish in an alien universe?
