Deanna Turner is in trouble. Living by herself and away from any family she’s suddenly become unemployed when the magazine she worked at goes under. Desperate for money, she answers an ad for a video game tester at Fun-O-Vision, the country’s top publisher of fantasy games. Deanna hasn’t played a video game in years, but with a little luck and a bunch of lies she makes her way into the initial testing group. Things are starting to look up, until people from her group start to disappear and the games she’s forced to play start bleeding into the real world. Now Deanna will have to join forces with her co-workers to face Necromancer CEOs, Succubi HR, and Minotaur Security guards if she wants to survive another day...and hopefully get paid on time.
Hello! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my novel in the making. I’m a bibliophile from Kentucky whose been working on writing for probably way too long.
I got the idea for this novel from a few different places. Every year I’ve heard people talk about how video games are ’evil’ and ’the work of the Devil’, so I decided to set my novel in a world where the video game corporation really is in league with the great evils. What if all of these monsters we saw in different games didn’t come from a creator’s imagination, but instead were pulled through via magic?
When I created the character of Deanna Turner as the hero, I started off making her a normal gamer, but I couldn’t help think about all those people who think that any woman that enjoys video games is a ’fake gamer girl’. So as a tribute to all those lunkheads I made Deanna a fake gamer girl, she lies about her knowledge of games to get a paycheck, but that won’t stop her in any way from kicking butt and saving the world.
This is a book about video games, magic, and a celebration of all things nerdy. If you have any interest in this book or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
