Set in a world where the gods hold dominion over the lives of mortals, two men have the strength of will to forge their own destiny.

The first is Halasan; the determined, sixteen-year-old heir to a fallen kingdom. He has spent his life in hiding, training for the day he can return home and reclaim his father’s throne. Some believe him to be the Ember Child spoken of in prophecy, chosen by the gods to rekindle the flames of resistance and lead his people to freedom. Halasan has his doubts about the truth of that, but he’ll stop at nothing to see the promise fulfilled.

Standing against him is Coren, the Lucian Emperor, who once forged the greatest empire the world has ever seen, but now spends his days trying to hold the fragile union together. Driven by the dream of a world united in peace and prosperity, Coren knows the danger Halasan presents to his ambitions. The boy’s claim will mean war, unless Coren can stop his rebellion before it begins.

Thus begins the race for the city of Danara, where one man hopes to free a nation and the other to save an empire. While both men have noble intentions, only one can succeed.

And not even the gods can say who it will be.

The aim is to write a fantasy trilogy in which three main characters - a different one the focus of each book - are destined to face each other in a final battle that only one can survive. My hope is to divide readers, to have them pick sides in a war that has no black and white, only shades of grey. Those are the kind of characters I love to read about and theirs is the kind of story I want to tell.

The Ember Child is book one of that trilogy and the first draft is complete. I’m eager for any feedback that might help me improve the story, so if you have any questions or suggestions, please send them my way!

P.S. I’m new at this, so it might take a bit of time to get this project up to speed. Please bear with me, and hopefully we’ll all enjoy the ride!

Cheers,

Tony
