August 2018Hello everyone -- apologies for the recent radio silence on "The Devil Inside." It is still in the pre-production queue, but with "Shadow King" ramping up for its October 2 launch, I’ve really been focusing my attention there.
I have learned from Inkshares that there are about 8 books, give or take, ahead of Devil in the line for the editor. That means official production won’t kick off until sometime in 2019, which is what I had anticipated.I know many of you also follow my adventures with "Shadow King" but there are several who joined this intrepid band after the Shadow King funding adventure wrapped up. I’d like to invite those who aren’t as familiar with it to stop over at the Shadow King page and check it out (and if you purchased a copy, that would also be amazing!). I’ll send another Devil update when I have some news to share on production status -- thank you all so much for being so patient while the production process unfolds!Best,Susan
June 26, 2018Good afternoon!I know I’ve been a bit silent on the status of "The Devil Inside" (formerly "The Devil You Don’t"), but it is still waiting patiently in the queue for its turn with the Inkshares editor. My other Inkshares book, "Shadow King," is currently with the typesetter/design team and we’re still looking at an early October release for that. If you’ve been following "Devil" but haven’t taken a look at "Shadow King" please do check it out. (and in case the link is wonky: just google Inkshares Shadow King and you’ll find it!)Will update you all soon with more information on "The Devil Inside!"As always, thanks for sticking with me on this wild ride -- I’m looking forward to sharing more concrete production dates in the upcoming months.Best,Susan
March 26Hello everyone!Today I’m really excited to share two things with you: the new title of "The Devil You Don’t" and the cover art, done by the wonderful and talented Charlene Maguire! The new title is "The Devil Inside." Not a tremendous change, but it more accurately hits on a recurring theme throughout the book. And the cover is...
Charlene was kind enough to give me an image designed to look like a real, honest-to-goodness book and I got all giddy over it.
We’ve still got a ways to go in the queue for the editor, but as new developments or milestones come up, I’ll let you know.Best,Susan
2/14/18Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!I wanted to send a quick update on "Devil You Don’t" to everyone, and the first bit of good news is that I just turned the manuscript and all the paperwork in this morning! So, Inkshare has it all now and "Devil" will take its place in the Quill production queue and wait for its turn with the editor. For those of you who have been with me on the Shadow King journey, this will be familiar territory. For those of you just joining us with Devil, get comfortable: the pre-production and production processes do not happen overnight (as much as I wish they did).Coming Soon: official cover art and -- gasp! -- a new title! That’s right, there’s going to be a bit of a title change, but I really think it is a better representation of some of the themes in the book. When the cover is ready, I’ll share with all of you and then get my Inkshares page updated.Other bits and pieces... And I did find out a couple other things from Inkshares. First, they are going to be discontinuing their Quill imprint. But don’t worry, both Shadow King and Devil You Don’t are in the queue and WILL be published. However, any book currently in funding will need to make the Quill threshold before the end of February to be added to the Quill production queue. Inkshares feels they have learned a lot from this imprint but are surfacing new and different ways to surface books that readers are interested in.The second thing is that they will not be continuing with the signed copies for those who ordered printed copies during my funding period. To get the books signed they would either need to ship them to me and then have me ship them back (that’s two trips cross country) or fly me to the West Coast and back again. Both options have proven to be too costly to make good business sense. I’m going to try to figure out an alternative for signatures, but haven’t quite gotten beyond the brainstorming point yet. I’ll keep you posted on that as well. However, if not getting a signature in your book is a complete deal breaker, contact Inkshares customer service and they’ll help you out. That’s about it for this update. Again, thank you for your support -- please do keep sharing the link for Devil You Don’t (https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-devil-you-don-t) -- Just because funding is over, doesn’t mean I’m not keen to get new readers! :-)All the best,Susan
