Chapter 2 is up! I'll upload one chapter a week from here on out. If you'd like me to email you the chapters, let me know. Otherwise, you can find them on InkShares! Thanks to all my wonderfully supportive readers. :)
I wanted to send a quick update. First and foremost, I am so thankful for your support. We are falling behind in the official ranking, but I am overwhelmed by the love and support I've received from family and friends. Many were quick to order & I can't express what it means to me. I won't forget it.
Writing is my favorite creative outlet. I wrote "The Deacon" shortly after high school & continued to polish it in the years that followed. It is a story I always return to, set in my favorite city. Last year, my husband had "The Deacon" professionally edited. I am really proud of the finished product.
That being said, getting a book published is no easy feat. Editors receive hundreds of query letters every day, and I grew wary of receiving rejections. The Inkshares contest really brought life back to this project for me. The opportunity to be published by a major retailer (Barnes and Noble!!!!) is once-in-a-lifetime.
With only 2 weeks left in the competition, it's unlikely I'll place. However, this contest taught me some valuable life lessons & reinvigorated my interest in this story- this story that I love to tell.
For those genuinely interested in reading my book, I'm happy to arrange it. I might continue to use the Inkshares platform & post chapters on a weekly basis, or I might privately email the manuscript to interested ones. I haven't decided.
In any case, I leave this contest with a giant plus: I'm writing again!!
