My name is Nadir Moreschi and I am a 35 years old italian lad. As soon as I learnt to write, I started to compose poetries and short tales mostly for the fun of it and just for my own laugh and entertainment. Then as the teenage approached I got involved with sci-fi and fantasy roleplay games (as Dungeons and Dragons, Cyberpunk and so on) and eventually mastering adventures for my friends. After many years of practice and adventures, getting adult and with less time to play games and less friends still into them, I ended up realizing I could translate my passion for RPGs and adventures to writing. I found out this Inkshare contest and I decided to give a try even if english is not my main language.

“The color is always greener in the sky” is going to be my first english sci-fi novel (and my first novel in english at all) and it’s something I just imagined for this contest. Here comes briefly the plot.

Year 3077, planet Earth. In the past centuries continuing climate changes for worst dried and heated up enviroments and lives of the 13 bilions of people living on what once was called "the green planet". Wars for energy and food resources caused mass migrations and the collapse of many governments as the human societies were used to know.

New types of governments were then devised and built by interests of the remained core powers of financial and energy companies: they called them "Deal 2500 islands" (because they started to build them around year 2500), flying structures kept to an average altitude, energetically, economically and socially indipendents where human kind started to move, year after year. But as too often happens, inequality and greed spred their bitter seeds. Under the direction of the engineers and scientists many men and women got employed to build the structures, but as soon they got on function, the poorest classes got left behind on the land surface more and more arid and poor of basic resources to live.

As the time went by, the "Deal 2500 island" underlying lands became open air toxic garbage dumps for the chemicals used by the reactors engines putting even more at risk the lives of those communities who were still living near to them hoping to reach the new flying structures, who were at the same time getting big and bigger like the old land cities. Angry and betrayed, the poorest classes still living on mainland started to gather together and planning attacks to the flying structures using recycled materials and the knowledge acquired while hired to build the lost promised flying lands.

“Deal 2500 Islands” governments reacted unloading more toxic wastes on the lands below to keep mainland tribes more far away, bombarding their settlements and on the other hand, starting lotteries and philantropic societies to play dirty with land people hopes to win the access to the islands.

The battle looked loaded from the start, since islands governments got more resources and technology to defeat attacks from the mainland tribes. After the first losses and massacres, the most pacific and resourceful part of mainland tribes people pulled back moving to the southern emisphere oceans, still less polluted of the northern’s ones, recycling old submarines to create undersea communities, way smallers than the Deal islands and with more peaceful rules and equality, even because got hard to find, it was harder to get to them causing less migration towards them. But most of mainland people is still going to fight.

Our story takes place around one of the north western “Deal 2500 Island” named Chilyork In the recent past three characters achieved to unify all the mainland tribes living around it to organize a massive assault to it and save themselves from starvation and other tribes egemony.

They were Kyle, Wellback and Menmant, with his flying ship engine projected and assembled by an unknown technology impossible to repeat and which got built on the main battleship. The attack begun but as it seems to be won by the mainland forces, something happened on the battleship making them strongly defeated. Kyle and Wellback survived while Menmant disappeared leaving behind his mysterious engine that no one is able to use again. After that day, many rumors got spread around. Some whisper about betrayal, some about fear, some just about blind randomness of a battle.

15 years later...

Starvations and wars against other tribes never ceased. It’s November and it’s Menmants’ son 15th birthday, his name is Leew. According to his tribe rules he becomes adult of age. Time to know who his father was and what happened to him. is he dead or alive? Time for secret hopes to be put on test, get acquainted of old friends and enemies and with that strange mysterious engine. Would it work again? How does it work really? What the price to pay is going to be?

Whatever will be, it’s going to be time for hopes to raise and stand strong in struggling times or for greed and hate to collect their evil tribute once again.

How can you help me?
Of course, making me noticing grammar and especially syntax mistakes (I read and read and I made changes and corrections but of course I am not perfect).
