Gabriel Thomas knows that origin stories are cliché. He isn’t even a fan of his own. Dead parents. A mystical race of demon hunters. Magic rocks. He’s thrust into it anyway, trained by his aloof (first ever) friend to fight for the humans he can barely stand. Gabriel doesn’t blindly follow his new acquaintances, though: he worries about indoctrination, sympathizes with the villain, and resists any familial affection. He also curses a bit. He is sixteen, after all.

Through urban black markets, across interstates, and within worlds made of glass, Gabriel searches for a missing emerald and the pink-suited demon who hides it. Whether he really wants to or not.

Author’s Note: I’m looking for feedback on the first few chapters of this as I polish it for potential agencies. Any suggestions for improvement are appreciated!
