I knew several people growing up in New Mexico who were deeply convinced that "witchcraft" was happening around them and even more convinced that anything "witchy" was of the devil. This story grew out of a question: what would happen if those people met a real witch who could do real magic?
Synopsis:
High in the mountains, surrounded by the sinister Blackwoods, the Reverend Gideon governs the town of Coventry with a pious, iron, hand. Since childhood Mary and twin siblings Thomas and Jane have earned the ire of the Reverend. Mary is strong, a hunter and protector. Thomas and Jane are different, to say the least.
For years their Father has kept them safe, shielding them from the Reverend and the community which fears them. Now their father is dead and there is nothing to protect Mary and her siblings from the wrath of their neighbors. Nor is there anything left to shield Jane and Thomas from the magic growing inside them and those who seek to wield it.
About the Story
The Blackwood Coven is ultimately about how we treat "the others" around us. Sometimes we fear them, sometimes we use them, and very seldom to we consider them as part of our communities. The story is meant to be the start of a trilogy, though I hope you find it enjoyable to read on it’s own.
I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to read The Blackwood Coven. This has been a labor of love for me for sometime and I’m excited to begin sharing it here. Once more chapters are polished up I’ll be adding them here. I also want to thank you in advance for any feedback you feel like giving. Love it or hate it or anywhere in between I really want to here what you have to say. Sharing is, after all, what stories are for.
Cheers!
