A charming start, The Agoge's prologue and first chapter are a fast read that put regular smiles on my face. The characters in this story, from the stranger to the boys, bullies, and coach (really everyone) seem to fit into Eldridge like a glove, a realism and down-to-earth quality to them that begs the reader to want more and more.Lots of natural, flowing humor and a town absolutely bathed in charm make The Agoge a good time, and I look forward to reading more when it's available.
