This novel is intended to be an anthology of three separate novels, two of which were previously published, and a third that had not been finished or seen publication.

The first two in the series – Lola the Buhund and the Empty Sky and Lola the Buhund and the Father of Discord – were originally published by another company from 2017(Book One)/2019(Book Two) to December of 2022. The pandemic has taken its toll on many things, and my contract with them was one of them. We parted ways amicably, but it left me at an odd crossroads.

As a young adult series, it follows the adventures of Hikaru Lola, a young Buhund from the world of Lumea. Her journey began at a time when Lumea’s skies were barren and the entire planet had lived in the dark for over a decade, but she quickly finds herself embroiled in a plot to stop a despotic monarch and to fell an ancient evil spirit intent on destroying reality.

To put it as simply as I can: Lola was my dog. She was the inspiration for this series’ protagonist, and I lost her to sudden onset heart failure in October of 2021. I suppose these stories are my way of letting her memory live on.
