Absolutely original, I really enjoyed this little insight into a world my oldest son is just starting to discover (minecraft) online. And while I battle to get the kids off the computer, I really enjoyed this simple yet engaging story. Heck, I might just have to give these games a go someday.

I'm not ready for this future, but a book about it sounds like a great idea.

Telling the story directly from the point of view of the protagonist brings the reader into world in a direct way. By demonstrating how the character perceives his actions in the world shows the reader an unreliable (sometimes) view of events which creates two layers for the readers to delve through. In The 3-D Printed Man this is done to great effect, and I look forward to reading more.
