Excerpt - Garrett
"Garret, stop!" Fiona screams as he kneels by the man, a sharp knife in one hand. He takes no notice of her as he plunges the knife into the other man’s chest. Blood spurts from the wound, bright and thick. The man screams for Garret to stop, but he doesn’t.The knife pierces his flesh again and again, until he falls silent.
"Garret!" Fiona screams aga but he ignores her. She tries to run to him, but thick arms wrap around her waist, preventing her from moving.
"We can’t do anything for him," Cameron breathes in her ear. "He’s too far gone." He drags her back, away from the gory scene. She kicks and shouts, fighting against him, but he won’t let go.
"We can’t leave him!" She growls, voice rough. "We have to stop him before he kills someone else."
Cameron shakes his head. "No. We can’t risk getting close to him. You know what happens to Others that overuse their abilities."
"Yeah, I do." Fiona relaxes against him, the will to fight suddenly leaving her. "Their powers become too much for them, and they die."
