This is all at once beautifully fantastic and grounded by some pretty heavy realities.  I’m a little scared to read the whole thing. But I’ve GOT to read the whole thing!

Dear All,

We are 11% of the way to our print goal! Woo-hoo!

I cannot thank all of you enough for backing the book, and welcome to the listeners of Ken & Robin Talk About Stuff! For those of you who don't know, I purchased an ad buy on the podcast in support of the novel. If you want to hear two RPG luminaries sing the praises of Terminal Magics, I'm the third ad on this episode (http://www.kenandrobintalkaboutstuff.com/?cat=3). It's about 45 minutes in.

As you can see, the Nerdist Contest may be over but I am not. I'm doing my damnedest to get the novel out there, but I can't make it all the way to 1,000 without your help. You guys going forth and talking up the novel is the best way to get this done. Linking to my page (https://www.inkshares.com/projects/terminal-magicks) would also be a help beyond words.

I will also post a third chapter next week, since a number of you have been asking for it!

Thanks again!

Ben

An early reader said that the novel was Breaking Bad, but with magic instead of meth. I took it as a compliment.

I wonder how many people have actually turned to the dark arts for healing. In the real world, the numbers are probably frightening. I just grabbed myself a copy!

Happy Friday all!
Things are going well, but I wanted to update you on a few things.

First, back Terminal Magics by next Friday and you could win a role-playing game run by me via Skype or Gchat! Your name will be put in the drawing once for every time you back the book!

Second, I am extending my offer to ask my senator to bring back the Queen until next Friday, the 18th. We have 7 Commonwealth country backers. Come on sons of England, do your part and share the news about the book!

Three, the novel now has a Facebook page. Like it and share it with friends! Look here: https://www.facebook.com/Terminal-Magics-1606845199568825/timeline/

It is not an exaggeration to say that I need each and every one of you to let other people know that you like this novel and want to see it in print. Tell your friends, neighbors, dentists, and undertakers. Here's a link: https://www.inkshares.com/projects/terminal-magicks

Dave Barrett, I will count multiple pre-orders towards that goal! Thanks for the support!

Ben

More readers keep finding Terminal Magics every day!

The number of Commonwealth backers of the book is now up to 3! 9 more and I will petition my senator to bring back the Queen of England as head of state. Thanks so much to all of you who are telling friends about the book. It'll take all hands pulling together to make this happen.

Do you like role-playing games? A lot of you I know found my novel through my podcast, Plot Points, which discusses role-playing games as literature. Inspired by this, I am entering a new phase of my campaign!

Back the book and you could win a session of a role-playing game run by Ben!

You have to back the book by September 18th. Your name will be put into the drawing once for every copy of the book you pre-order. Already backed the book? You're in the drawing. If you live within 3 hours drive time of Shorewood, Wisconsin, Ben will drive to your house library or dungeon to run the game, otherwise the game will be run on Skype or Gchat. The game run will be decided upon by the winner & Ben in conference.

Tell your friends, neighbors, family, and neighborhood werewolf pack about Terminal Magics!

Hey B!  I'm from Maine, not the Commonwealth, but I can wholly get behind your letter to the senator.  Democracy is a failed experiment.  As Loki said in the Avengers, Man was made to be ruled.  In the end, we will always kneel.  I'd be happy to toss a second preorder your way if you'd let it count in the 12!

Also, if you've got some referral credits handy, I'd really appreciate your swinging on by my own project and giving it a preorder!  Every one counts!

Thanks!

Dear All,

We have had a number of backers from Commonwealth countries over the last few days. For those of you not in the know, a Commonwealth nation is one which was ruled by Britain at some point, and likely still recognizes the Queen.

In recognition of this, I make the following promise: If 12 members of Commonwealth nations, or 65 others, back my book before Friday, I will send the following to my senator:

Dear Senator Baldwin,

Given the anemic state of the presidential field of 2016 from both major political parties, most of whom I wouldn’t support in an election for McDonalds Employee of the Month, and the partisan gridlock which has kept Washington DC immobile as a glacier in a pre-global warming world, I would like to humbly put forth a venerable solution to America’s political troubles.

Monarchy.

I move that you submit the following change to the Constitution: That Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, second of her name, Sovereign of 16 Commonwealth Nations and Supreme Governor of the Church of England, be named Head of State of the United States of America, and that her descendants inherit the role until the clock of time itself shall stop and bring the world crashing to its end.

Queen Elizabeth II has led her family of nations through a world war, countless financial crises, the rise and fall of disco, and the death of Benny Hill. She has proven herself a skilled captain of the ship of state, one which America would be lucky to have as its first monarch.

While the Queen’s advanced age of 89 is certainly a concern, her line is secure unto the third generation. To ensure ease of transition on the sad day the Queen finally passes, I would move that Prince Harry of Wales be made next in line to the throne. To sharpen his administrative acumen, he should be named Duke of Ohio whilst in waiting.

God Save the Queen!

Insincerely,

Ben Riggs
