This novel started out as a joke between my best friend and I which eventually snowballed into a project for the Ontario NanoWrimo competition. I did not realise at the time I would fall in love with my characters and want to finish this novel with the hopes of making my debut. Being an twenty-two year old art major entirely down on my luck, I have focused on nothing but writing my entire life...which so far has me rubbing pennies together for warmth.

Thus Nina Wentworth was born, my protagonist and a dramatisation of myself. I think deep down everyone has that fantasy of a prince(ss) pulling them out of the darkness and into the light - their own personal tall, dark and mysterious Bruce Wayne hero. Although nothing is what it seems and as Oscar Wilde once said, "there are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.”

However I strongly believe Romance novels do not have to stay within the realm of stereotypical ’heroes and damsels.’ Romance novels can be well-written with strongly developed, unconventional characters and stories; which is exactly what I set out to do with my novel.
